Hi!
A few days ago one of my good friends developed the symptoms of the mumps, I had not seen him the two days before his symptoms developed, however I had drunk water from a glass he had previously drunk from on the third day before the symptoms appeared.
However, what worries me is that it turns out he had the MMR and the booster shot... I have had these as well, but I am next week helping handicapped people on a course, and the last thing i want is to be a risk for mumps infection to them...
What are the chances that I could have cought the mumps?
Any help would be hugely appreciated,
Nik

It will all depend on whether the mump vaccine and booster are still effective or not.
Are you sure your friend has the mumps? if not, it is only a guessing game as to whether you have been exposed to mumps or not.
Remember, it is always best to NEVER drink from another person's glass, too high risk of being exposed to something even they have no clue they are coming down with something.
You would be wise to check with your doctor about your risks to the people you will be working with.
