whenever i sit for long periods of time and get up i start to get a bit dizzy, it goes after about 5 seconds but its a weird feeling. im wondering if this is cos of sleeping habbit at the moment cos as it is the holidays ive been staying up to the early hours of the morning and getting up after 12 almost every day. could this be the cause or could it be related to soming else

It's called postural hypotension :)
Most people experience it mildly when standing up too quickly after having sat for a long time.
Basically what happens is that there is a drop in blood pressure which leads to less blood to the brain, which in turn causes mild dizziness.

I agree with Beatnik. You can help avoid this by sitting on side of bed before getting up and place both feet flat on floor, raise heels up and down with ball of foot still on the floor. Do this several times, then sit for 1 minute and then get up. This is a way of pumping blood from feet/legs back up to your brain, at least gets blood circulating again. Always rise slowly from a sitting position or getting up from bed.
