i was browsing around the acne forum here on health boards, looking for any tips to maybe clear up some light acne... i came across something interesting.. a guy was giving his theories on things that cause ACNE..

HYPERTHYROIDISM-
(SYMPTOMS)
Palpitations
Heat intolerance
Nervousness
Insomnia
Breathlessness
Increased bowel movements
Light or absent menstrual periods
Fatigue
Fast heart rate
Trembling hands
Weight loss
Muscle weakness
Warm moist skin
Hair loss
Staring gaze

HISTADELIC METABOLISM-
(SYMPTOMS)
obsessive-compulsive
allergies
frequent headaches
Good tolerance of cold
Poor tolerance of heat
Poor pain tolerance
Excess perspiration
Slender fingers / toes

ok.. so that doesnt make much sense.. but i read something somebody wrote on another site...

( please do not copy from other websites )

also read this page:
(please do not post commercial websites )

I get lots of headaches, i'm going to a chiropractor right now. I was also in contact with lots of mold in my college dorm.. i have allgergies to god knows what.. i'm skinny and my metabolism seems off the wall fast. My Brainfog feeling started one morning all of a sudden.. thought it was an ear infection.. i got really dizzy for a few days and the DR gave me antibiotics which cleared it up but left me feeling 'foggy' more like drunk.. or stoned.. and its been about 5 years.. all of this seems like a huge puzzle but it all seems related somehow.

Ok.. maybe i'm just reaching here and not making any sense... but maybe we should ask doctors to check us out for these things? when i was reading stuff earlier tonight it made sense but i seem to have lost my train of thought (too much fog in my head)

ONE MORE THING!

it seems all these sites calling brain fog seems different from what I(we) have.. they refer to it as being careless and forgetful.. that is NOT what i have.. and i think people like Schao are the same... I FEEL LIKE IM DREAMING, TOTALLY DISCONNECTED AND OUT OF IT.. ON DRUGS.. maybe we should call it something other than brain fog because if you look it up its not really the same thing i believe.... :bouncing:

one more thing: when i went to see the neuro-ot for the 3rd time he wanted me to get a blood test.. he wanted to check my thyroid levels.. i declined as i thought it was a waste of time.. any of you got your blood checked? in particular what did they check?

Hi Soupyhead--

For blood tests I had my thyroid checked, along with all of the basic stuff...metabolic panel, red/white blood cell count, ana (for lupus), lyme titer (for lymes disease), cholesterol, EBV, and im sure some more..but i think those are the main ones.
Its good stuff to get checked out just to make sure its not any of those things.
I hate this brain fog crap ya know!!!! My train of thought gets bad sometimes, which is very annoying. Hopefully one day we'll all have an answer.

Blood tests were the first thing I had when I got this...I think you may as well have them...

As for brainfog, you are right there are many descriptions and many causes. You could go insane wondering. But all I do know is brain fog is v common with inner ear disorders - I know that my fog is all dizzy related - the more my head spins, the worse the fog. If the head dizziness was to stop tm, so would the fog. Mine is really bad at the mo and I find it scary to be honest. Im disconnected, forgetful, clumsy, spaced out etc etc but it is like nothing I had ever experienced before my vestibular disorder. The brain fog, as you all know, associated with a cold, is simply not comparable.

Keep smiling xxxx

I'm wondering if those diagnosed with MAV have brainfog too?

I hope everyone is coping better than me today. I can't seem to get out of this sad state today.

Take care,
Gloria

I don't have an official diagnosis of MAV, but a mere guess by my ENT (and I think he might be right)... but anyway, I suffered from the kind of brainfog soupyhead describes the first half of this dizziness crap contstantly – disconnected, dream-like feeling. I was miserable. Soupyhead, I don't know HOW you've managed to deal with it for 5 years! It has since eased up a lot for me, and that aspect of my dizziness is fairly rare now. I don't know if it means I've been slowly getting better overall, because I'm STILL DIZZY, or if it might have been a component of anxiety, especially since in the early stage, I hadn't seen any doctors yet, and I was quite nervous about not knowing what was wrong with me.

Good luck to all!

Yes, it pretty much went on its own, I guess... I never tried any medications or anything. It was so slow and gradual, though, that it was an imperceptible progress. Somewhere between month 4-6 of this thing, I was thinking about my symptoms and suddenly realized that I hadn't been experiencing that dreaminess as intensely. It makes the other things just a little more bearable. The detached feelings still occur from time to time, but nowhere near the previous levels; I could barely function back then.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help. It does help, at least mentally, to relax as much as possible and try to level off the stress and anxiety. Take care.
