View Full Version : A Word of Caution and a Request for Help

MY WORD OF CAUTION. Don't assume that if a particular plastic surgeon does a good job the first time he works on you that he'll be just as good when you go back for more work at another time. I was very happy with my first face lift. The surgeon did an incredible job and I looked twenty years younger and very attractive.

Several years later when I began to age again, I went back to the same surgeon since my experience with him had been so positive. This time he did a forehead lift as well and the results were disastrous. While my face itself looked good, he pulled my skin back so far that my hairline now starts near the middle of the top of my head and the hairline at the sides of my face starts well BEHIND my ears. He also cut out an excessive amount of scalp tissue, causing me to PERMANENTLY lose 70% of my hair! I'd give you his name but he retired soon after (at 52 years of age) and is no longer practicing. The point is, things (and people)can change.

MY REQUEST FOR HELP: Another nine years have passed since my second surgery and gravity is starting to take hold again. I need another facelift but my experience has left me gun-shy. Then too, the mistakes my plastic surgeon made leave no room for error this time around so I have to be very careful about whom I choose. I live in the Los Angeles/Beverly Hills area. Does anyone know of a plastic surgeon in my general area whom they feel is consistently good and whom they would recommend? By the same token, has anyone had BAD results or heard BAD things about any specific surgeon in this geographic area?

Your input would be most appreciated.

Bea,
I'm so sorry about your bad experience. I too have had a very bad experience with a midface lift which has devastated me in many ways. I have been searching for help and started in the L.A, area even though I live on the Eastern side of the country. I started out with Garth Fisher, who is very caring and a good person. He said he couldn't help me and referred me to his mentor and teacher Bruce Connell. He in turn made some good recommendations. I saw Montegut for fat grafting, I think he's one of the best. And also Carraway in Va. is very good especially with eyes.
Good luck in your search

MaggieDog,

Thank you for your prompt response. I'll definitely follow up on the leads you gave me. I've heard a lot of good things about Garth Fisher and will be sure to see him.

I hope you're able to find someone who can correct the damage that was done to you. I know what you're going through and I know how frustrating it can be. Good luck!

I know a person who had a really good looking facelift with Dr. Tearston in Beverly Hills. She looks very natural, not too tight.
