Ok, I've posted on here before about my back/neck problems. And I'm in panic mode right now. I just need some help.

So for all of you that don't remember, here is a quick rundown of my problem:

I'm a 19 year old female, who went to the chiropractor for neck/back problem. Found out neck was 40 degrees too far forward, so had to get that pulled back to where it should be. They put me in a traction thing, but I started getting weird sharp pains in my head. Turns out, I had a panic attack while in the traction thingy and pulled a muscle in my neck. So they put me in another traction thing which I didn't feel so claustraphobic in. It helped a lot and my neck is somewhat back to where it should be.

Well, since I was doing better, they decided to cut down my treatments to only doing traction 1 time a week (I was going 3 times) and ever since I started going only once a week, I feel crappier than when I started. My neck is in pain and always stiff...I have a constant headache at the back of my head which goes to the front, like my temples. My arms feel all tingly, my hands feel numb and they shake. They don't shake real bad, BUT they just feel shakey, like an internal shake.

I don't know what's going on. I also have really bad health anxiety, and I freak out over the slightest pain. I'm stressed out about work/life right now and I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I'm just scared to death right now and my parents don't believe me because of my anxiety. I don't know where to go/what to do/what to think! In my head right now, I believe I have a tumor/brain aneruysm, something scary like that.

I just need help. Does anyone know what's going on with me!? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

calm down first! are you taking anything to help with your anxiety? the more nervous you get, the worse things are, and I know how hard that is to do. I've had asthma for years, and when I would lose my breath I would panic which made it worse, and I damaged my lungs a little. I hated taking the mediciation (I'm not good with pills and such) so I took a relaxation course for anxiety. I have not used an inhaler in the past 7 years!! it requires a lot of deep breathing, concentration and dedication. try getting yourself a little calmer, and keep working on your neck pain, is there anything you can do at home to help with the pain, and not rely on the traction?
you'll get through this, and everything will be fine- don't think the worst of it, (I know easier said then done) I'm 1 week post op from a spinal fusion, and thought the same-it was the worst, but now I'm doing fantastic and only taking a couple tylenol when needed.
so relax, try to take it easy, and it will work out for you! good luck and keep me posted!

I will agree that the first thing you need to do is calm down, and that's much easier said then done I know.
It seems to me it may be best if you first deal with the issues of your anxiety since it is known that it will make pain worse and by dealing with the anxiety then it will be easier to get others to listen to you about your back and neck problems.
I have no idea as to what all your health problems are but I do know that drs and others always want to believe that most of our problems are due to anxiety and such especaily when they can't find a problems right away.
You need to contact your family dr and see them for an app. to see about starting on some type of anxiety medication such as buspar or something and maybe even some counseling.
Please understand I'm not by any means saying your problems are not real and maybe even serious it's just until you can calm down you are going to have a hard time geting others to listen and take it serious.
I don't have much use for traction myself and am not sure I would continue with any chiro. treatments until I had a better diagnosis , I really doubt you have a brain tumor I can't say this for sure but I can say I know first hand that anxiety can cause a wide range of symptoms.
Please let us know how your doing and keep posting it helps to vent..
Thinking of you and wishing only the best for you.
Linda
