My husband is 43 years old and has had back pain for many years. He is currently taking two medications, Naproxen and Tramadol. twice a day for the pain. Two ciropractors in our area are offering a new back treatment that is supposed to be a non-surgical answer for back pain. It is called lumbar/cervical decompression. It is supposed to decompress the spinal dics by stretching the body for 15 minutes over approx 20 treatments.

Has anyone heard to this treatment? Has anyone had it done or know someone who has? Any comments?

You may be able to stretch the muscles but my understanding is that the spine is a very rigid structure and cannot be stetched. When someone is put in traction it is for destablization rather than stretching the spine. I am assuming nothing is notably wrong with the spine structurally. If so, have him read "Healing Back Pain" by Dr, John E. Sarno.
