Okay, so yesterday I was doing dishes and I saw a piece of dried pasta on the side of the sink. I tried to use my fingernail to lift it off, but instead it slid right under my fingernail and is lodged there. It is INCREDIBLY painful and I cannot remove it in any way. It is too deep into the nailbed to reach with tweezers.

WHAT CAN I DO!? It is driving me NUTS with pain!

Hi...maybe your best bet is to go to a clinic.

Infection under the nailbed is quite possible, and at least the doc will freeze the area and maybe give you a shot of something to help prevent infection...as well as a 'script'? Fungal infection would be a big worry to me....

I strongly suggest you go get it removed -- by a doctor.

I feel for you, really....YEEEOWCH!!

Let us know the outcome.

Have you tried soaking it in hot soapy water? I would think the noodle would soften up again if you soaked it long enough and come out.

Another problem is that I am a very active nail-biter. My nailbed is so shallow, that the macaroni piece is about 1cm in diameter, yet is VERY close to touching my cuticle. There is no loose portion at the top of my nail, it is all embedded.

Tylenol is helping.

I agree with quincy. If it is embedded like that, it will surely get infected if it isn't already. Your body will try to rid itself of the foreign object. Then it'll REALLY get sore! That is so horribly painful when something like that happens! I've had a piece of wood do that, however I was able to grab an end with tweezers and pull it out, if you can't pull it out, a doctor can do it easily.

i had a piece of wood stuck in my foot for about a week last month
it ended up all infected and hard and black.

i went to the ER and they did a quick open up job and removal.
the HARDEST part was the 4 needled in the sole of my foot..i screamed that loud several Dr's appeared to ask what woman was making the noise...

...and im a 32 year old man, lol

GO GET IT REMOVED BEFORE IT GETS INFECTED !!!

LOL!!!!! That's hilarious...well, not that you were in agony..just how you described it!

Glad to hear you recovered. I wonder how many times that's been passed around in the hospital lunch room??

Keep well!
