Help, What do i do. My DD has not been wanting to drink her formula these last few days. I don't know why. She doesn't drink anything else really. Very rarely she will get some juice, but she doesn't even like to drink that. She is 10 months old. I know they are suppose to be a year old before they get milk. Anyone give milk sooner then that and if so what kind of milk is good for babies? I don't know what to do if she won't drink her formula anymore.

Hi!

My 9.5 months now doesn't like to drink anything from the bottle anymore. So, I tried using a regular cup, not the sippy cup. She drinks anything I give her in the cup joyfully. Of course it can be really messy, but she drinks more that way.

Good luck!

My DD hasn't been on a bottle since she was six months old. We have swicthed her to a sippy cup. I really am not ready for a regular cup. She goes to daycare and they wouldn't allow that anyways. She takes the sippy cup at daycare and it kinda leaks a little bit. The daycare doesn't really like that. It gets all over her carpet. Its a home daycare and she is a really good friend. I wouldn't take her anywhere else. I completely understand if she doesn't want her to have a regular cup at 10 months old.She has always done just fine with a sippy cup. It only to me a day to break her of the bottle. She will drink like one or two cups of formula fine but at lunch she won't drink it. She use to drink 6 oz three times a day. Now she will only drink like an 1 or 2 oz and then not really anything at lunch. For her age she is suppose to be getting 24 oz of formula a day. So i really don't know what to do. Any other ideas?

I bet the doc might let you start milk early. When you do start, they recommend whole milk.

Hi There,

Have you tried another type of formula? If she isnt liking the formula much anymore i would recommend maybe trying Pediasure as it comes in so many different flavors. I have 5 children with my youngest being severely handicapped and i am currently feeding him Pediasure. My other children as well as my nieces and nephews and also the neighbor kids are always begging for the pediasure and their ages range from 4 to 13 !

Also, if you should switch your little one over to whole milk i would definately recommend giving her a multi vitamin everyday (if she isnt currently taking one) to replace some of the vitamins and minerals that she would normally be getting from her formula.

We all know how fussy and picky children can be, but isnt it funny how a child can become so picky at such a young age???? lol !!!!

Sounds like it is just going to be trial and error with your daughter until you can find something healthy that she will like to drink.

Good Luck to you and your daughter,

Thanks for your help. I didn't want to switch her to soon to milk, but if i can't get her to drink formula then i have to do something. I was talking with someone else about this. They said since she is a big baby i should do 2% and the vitamins. Is that not the case. She was 10 months yesterday and she is 21 lbs. I think that is pretty average for her age though. I don't really now. She is my first baby so this is all very new to me. Thanks again for everyones help. I think i might try the pediasure thing too.

Oh man I'm going through this right now too and my dd is only 6 months! Since she has started to lover her solids she hates her milk  Grrrr I have to trick her and wait till she's falling asleep with a bottle of water then switch it over to a bottle of her formula :D usually she takes about 4 to 5oz's. Luckily she LOVES water and juice so I know she gets enough fluids but hates a sippy cup.
