Kimp,
I got implants when I was 21 and had to have them removed when I was 28. I had a rupture that was infected and could not have them replaced right away. Before my BA, I was a small B and pretty saggy. When they were removed they were pretty much the same except they were more saggy. But other than that they were okay. You could also consider a lift if you are concerned about being saggy. Why do you hate your implants?

i have some rippling. also they are under the muscle and whenever i lift my arms or use those muscles the breast feel hard but other than that they are super soft. also i have been experiencing dry eyes, and kneww pain with fatigue that i think could be related. i am afraid of the scars though. i had them in the crease and they are still visable when i lift my arms otherwise they are covered but with no implants i was an a and an a will not cover the scar especially if i get a lift. i wish i just left my self alone. also i dont like how saline look without cloths on they just look like implants. and i am tooooo afraid of silicone and if these symptoms are related i definitly dont want to replace. i dod not want to be flat but i cant live like this tired all the time with burning dry eyes. any advice.

Hi..can I ask why you think your fatique and dry eyes are related? You could have them removed and that still won't cure the problem, unfortunately.
My mom had implants and had hers romoved due to capsular contraction. To be honest, she looks quite disfigured, maybe because some scar tissue is still there, not sure though. I have seen pics of explantation and the breasts never look just like they did before.

I believe it is related because i found many websites that connect any type of breat implant with autoimmune diseases, and dry eyes, fatigue, and joint pain are all symptoms of auto immune. i never had any of this until about 3 months after implants. Plus I am not a big fan of saline, thy dont look or feel as real. silicone is tempting but there is no way in heck i am replacing them. i want to feel healthy again but am so afraid to be flat and not even that how they will look. I am asumming your mom is not a happy camper with her situation. Arent you the lady who posted earlier an auto immune disease and silicone implants? if so what do you think? what are your sysmptoms. please respond

Kimp,
OMG, you have silicone....I do too and I am sure I have a rupture. My first set of implants were saline and they ruptured and were not life threatning upon rupture.
But now I have silicone and it is different. My redness and soreness first started 6 days ago. Before that I had super dry eyes (for probably three-four months) and have been having these strange hot flash things. I am only 36 but was beginning to wonder if maybe I was some how going through "the change". I also have tingling in my left arm and hand. And my head feels like it is about to bust open....nothing takes the headache away.
Anyway, I just moved to Dallas/Arlington from Houston and do not know any surgeons, except for one and he is on vacation, so I am scrambling around to find someone to see me. I saw my gynocologist(I have to get a doctors order to get a mammo and no ps could see me for weeks) last Friday and she gave me some antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs. When she looked at my boob and I told her it was silicone, I could see the horror in her face (its not very common that silicone leaks and it is free like it is obviously in me) and I am scared half to death. I have an appt. with another ps on Friday. I also am having to pay for my own mammogram...all the places on my insurance cannot get me in until Sept. 2nd, so I am just going to go to the hospital this week and pay for it on my own. Once I have the mammo showing the ruptured implant with free silicone my insurance company should pay to have one or both removed.
All of this aside, I do plan on having SALINE implants put back in next Spring.

you dont think your dry eyes are related? i do, that is a sign of auto immune and i dont have silicone i have saline and yes i believe my problems are related to the implants. i dont think any of them are safe. i would never put in silicone especially since i believ the saline filled are making me sick. they are not ruptured i just think the foreign object in my body is triggering an auto immune response and thats why all these sysmptoms. what do you think?

Oh, that is good you do not have silicone.
Yes, I am betting that it is somehow related to the dry eyes. I am sure that they have been ruptured for some time and the exertion of picking up my cat carrier to take my 16 lb. cat to the vet on Tuesday just pushed the implant through the scar tissue that was holding it in. A few months ago I noticed that I had a hard spot in that same area but it was not red and didn't hurt so I just shrugged it off.
I have heard of cases like you where the body starts trying to reject the foreign object (your implants).
Have you had any ear infections? I was 30 when I got my first ear infection (it was about three-four months after I got my silicone implants). I remember it clearly because I got my implants in May. In August I switched employers and was without insurance for one month. I got my ear infection (I woke up with blood on my pillow and the pain was incredible) and I remember that I had to pay for the doctor's visit because I had no insurance...thats how I am for sure when it happened.
Anyway, three years later I went to the PS. Scratching feeling in my breast (exactly where the pain and redness is now) and he sent me for an ultrasound. I had a wrinkle in that area and that is why I had the scratching feeling....it was irritating the tissue. Anyway, before I saw the doctor they asked me a few questions and one of the first ones they asked was about whether or not I had ever had an ear infection since having silicone. I was shocked! And my infection was so bad that I went to four different doctors and none could figure out why I wasn't responding to drugs. Wanting to do exploratory surgery on me to see what was up and around that time it just got better for some reason. Also was diagnosed with TMJ and Irritable Bowel Syndrome that same year.
But I never attributed this crap with the implants...just figured my luck was running out health wise.
I go for an ultrasound in the morning so I will know for sure then what is going on.

It is not true that one will be disfigured if her implants are removed. It is very important, if you are considering explant, to use a surgeon with experience in this procedure. Many surgeons who are NOT good at explants wind up removing too much breast tissue along with the implant. In addition, it is a good idea to remove the scar capsule as well (This is called "en bloc" removal). There are several good surgeons throughout the US who do this surgery, sometimes along with a breastlift. There is at least one excellent website dealing with this topic, but the rules here forbid me from mentioning it. If anyone is interested, I believe I can post the name of one of the most well known doctors in the country who does many explants - Dr. Lu-Jean Feng. She is located in Cleveland, Ohio. Hope this info helps someone.

Kimp...yes, I was the one who wrote the other question...your dry eyes and Janets tingly feelings could very well be thyroid related, which can also be an auto-immune disease....did you know that even diabetes is auto-immune...almost all diseases are, but cancer...so what I am saying, is that is is much more likely you could have gotten a disease anyways and it is not related to the implants. I have thyroid disease and have pins and needles and tingly feelings a lot.
25% of the population has thyroid disease...it is a myth that it is just something that has to do with weight. The thyroid regulates the entire body...down to the nerves, cells, bones, joints, skin EVERYTHING....there is a section here for thyroid if you ever want to read up on it...when I started having problems, I had no clue that that is what it was.

yes i know. i had tyroid tested and it was fine. they also say you can have problems with throid from implants, along with artritis, syjrjens syndrome, lupus, etc. alot of info on the web says alot of women get auto immune diseases from implants, but i do not know if it is true. i am real scared because all of this just sarting after the implants. tyroid is heavily connected with implants and sjourens, but only on the web, my ps says not. sorry for all the misspellings.

I hope you get this all sorted out. I know that people say the studies do not support the idea that implants cause disease, but if you analyze the studies out there, many of the data came from women who had been implanted for less than 2 years. Most of the problems occur over 10 years, so mixing in implanted women at such an earlier stage would tend to skew the results. If you ask a woman who was implanted recently if she likes her breasts, chances are she would say "yes!". Ask a woman with older implants, and the answers start to change. Also, many women are told by their doctors that their symptoms are imaginary or simply not related to their implants, so these stymptoms do not even get reported to the people tracking the studies! Even saline implants have a silicone shell. Good PS's advise their patients that these are not lifetime devices and eventually need to be replaced. It is sad that so many women are being told that their symtoms have nothing to do with their implants. Maybe they do and maybe they don't. Who can say with any degree of certainty? It is a pretty thorny area. The FDA is reconsidering approval of silicone implants and I think it is sad because many women will take the FDA approval as an endorsement of them. Hopefully, they will be informed of the possible risks beforehand so that at least they will know what the possibilities are. I am in favor of choice, but "Caveat Emptor" (translation: "Let the buyer beware"!)
