Hello!

I'm planning to bring my 9.5 months old to the beach this weekend. Then my mom brought up an issue that made me concern. She said the skin of my baby is too delicate to be exposed to the sea water and the sand. Is this true? I read somewhere that the sea water is actually close to the amniotic fluid and therefore is safe for her. But the sand can irritate the skin.

If I do bring my daughter to the beach this weekend, except putting a lot of sunblock on her and keeping her most of the time out of the sun, what else should I do to protect her skin?

Thanks for any advice!

I took my six month old and he did fine. we just kept a large hat, sunglasses (to keep the sand and water from getting in his eyes) and put plenty of sunblock on.

Thanks! I'll make sure to put a lot of sunblock and not expose her to the sun too much.

I took my DS to the beach when he was 8 months old and I let him sit in the water and he did fine or his skin did...haha he didn't like it too much. As for the sand he LOVED that. I also put on a big hat and sunglasses on him.

We live near Daytona Beach and have gone in the summer with our children at least twice a week from the time they were infants. It has never caused a problem for any of them so I say, just use lots of sunscreen and have fun!
