I sprained my ankle on Friday. I went to the ER and I was told I had a severe sprain. X-Rays were took and ruled out any fractures. I was given an air/gel splint thing that does absolutely NO good! I have NO control over my foot. It goes where it wants to if i move my leg. I cannot move my foot, only my toes. I STILL can't put ANY pressure on it or i cry. I'm hobbling around on crutches 5 days after the fact. I still have swelling from the middle of my calf to my little toes that look like stuffed sausages. My question is, is this normal for this to still look and feel like this?

You may want to make an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. This will probably need an MRI to diagnose properly. Sometimes with a bad sprain, the swelling makes the Xray impossible to show anything and that will only show any bone problems, not tendon or ligamant damage.

I had a similar incident, and went through all you are now....assuming the ER was correct and I "just" had a bad sprain. Well...15 years later, I had complete ankle reconstructice surgery because I had a bone chip that was too small to detect in the xray from the ER. That bone chip caused severe damage to my ligament over the years and casue me great pain and swelling...making the surgery necessary...

check it out with the orthopedic surgeon, good luck
