this isn't as serious as some issues on this board... but I can't find any straight answer about this

the epiphysis and diaphysis are the growth areas of the bones... i have heard that weight lifting can cause the "growth plate" between these areas to prematurely fuse and stop growth, or get damaged in other ways. I have been lifting for a while, and I'm 17 and don't feel I'm tall enough. All the stuff that I've found on google on the matter don't give a clear answer, and stuff like "don't lift too much weight and don't do one-lift maximums and you'll be okay" is kind of vague - i'm still about smaller degrees of damage.

anyone know anything about this?
