View Full Version : Colposcopy, Perimenopause and DES

In January I had a colposcopy with biopsies. The results weren't definitive, but could not rule out LSIL. The EEC was okay, but they would have liked to have had more tissue to examine. I am having a 6 month recheck colposcopy/biopsy at the end of this month. If this one is normal, do I have to retest in another 6 months or will I be done with the colposcopies? The strange thing was that my pap smear done by my PCP came back normal. The reason my PCP sent me for a colposcopy was because of a deformed shaped cervix. The Gyn I went to asked if my Mom took DES while pregnant.
I have no way of finding out. I am 53 and had two normal pregnancies, so obviously if she did, it didn't interfere then. I find by researching the internet that the DES babies of the 50's are just now reaching menopause, so there are not many studies showing if complications turn up at that time. I just thought I'd ask and see if there are any DES daughters in their 50's who come up with strange symptoms at perimenopause/menopause? Any insight is appreciated!
