Does anyone happen to know which state has the lowest prices for plastic surgery?? I live in Oregon but I heard that Alabama has docs that do breast implants for $2,800 and also the price is low in Utah (or so I read somewhere on the internet). I am willing to travel to get a good price. Who knows, I might even go to lithuania! thanks for any info!

I just talked to a doctor in Salt Lake, Utah who says that breast augmentation there costs $3200. I'll keep you guys updated if I get any new info.

The Florida Panhandle is a relatively inexpensive part of the country, in general.

Shopping for the lowest price if fine if you're buying a car etc. However,we are talking about your body!!I'd look for the best Doctor period wihin the distance you are willing to travel. What good is a low price if you only have to pay to have it fixed by a better surgeon?

Going to another state for a cheaper boob job makes NO sense. You may save money on the surgery but yhou will spend it on travel and getting a hotel to recover. Besides - why are you looking for the cheapest price with something as serious as this??? Don't forget the old but ususally true saying, "YOu get what you pay for".I paid $5600 for my boobs but they were worth every cent! Anyway, going to anyother state makes no sense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I already wrote that but it was worth repeating

I think it makes sense, you can save a lot of money going where the cost of living is lower. Perhaps you can just get a lift, as implants IN MY OPINION, I just want to say,"Who do you think you're fooling?" They look fake, when you get them, just lay down and see.

If you want to save money (which I did) look into having your surgery done at a resident cosmetic clinic. There are some great ones around the country and you can find them with internet research. Four weeks ago I had a facelift, browlift, lasering around the mouth, earlobe reshaping done, and three moles removed for $5500 total at the U of P plastic surgery clinic. The chief resident did the surgery under the supervision of an attending board certified faculty doctor. My surgery was 7 1/2 hours and the attending was there the whole time. I am still waiting for some of the swelling to go down (it can take months) but so far I am very happy with the results. I am also having some touch-up work done in about 2 months - lasering around the eyes and maybe a tuck or two around the eyes - depends on how things settle when all swelling has gone down. This will all be included in my fees. It's a win-win situation - you save on costs and the chief resident gets to perform his required surgery under supervision. They were extremely thorough with me - both pre and post-op - prescriptions, skin care, 2 consultations beforehand, several visits from the doctor overnight and next morning in the hospital after the surgery, etc. I really was comfortable with my doctor and will be following up with him to make sure I know where he will be practicing so I can see him in the future if I want / need to. Besides U of P, the other resident cosmetic clinics I know of offhand are Johns Hopkins, U of Miami, and Barnes-Jewish in St. Louis. There are others, but those came up in my research, and U of P was closest to me, so I went there. So, if money is a primary consideration, it's worth looking into. Disclaimer: my experience was good - I certainly cannot say or know what yours will be like.

Your experience at U of P sounds great. You got alot done for about half of what you could have paid. Who was your surgeon (the supervising surgeon)? I agree that this is a good alternative as long as the chief surgeon is there the whole time. Good luck with your continued recovery.

My supervising / attending surgeon was Dr. Donato (Don) La Rossa, who is a professor of plastic surgery on the faculty of the U of P. He was there during the entire surgery (so I am told - I was, of course, out cold - lol). Forgot to add above that during my two pre-op consultations with my resident surgeon I was also personally evaluated by two other U of P faculty doctors, as well as having met and been evaluated by Dr. La Rossa just prior to going into the OR. My surgeon also told me that they conferenced about twice a week over my photos during the 4 weeks between my initial consultation and the surgery.

Your situation sounds ideal. You got some of the best medical opinions and good follow up. How did hear about doing your surgery this way? Did you have alot of swelling and bruising? It sounds like you have gotten lots of good attention; pre & post op care.

I did months of internet research, went to a couple of seminars, talked to people, checked out the websites of many doctors and those of the resident cosmetic clinics mentioned above. Yes, lots of swelling and bruising - the bruising is gone, but some of the swelling and numbness are still apparent, around my neck and jawline, and forehead. I was on a regimen of surgical vitamins immediately post-op to help with this. I am coming up on 5 weeks post-op and although I am "presentable", I understand that it can be months before everything fully dissipates. My touch-up care will be around my eyes - lasering under the eyes and a tuck along the side of each eye to deal with slight hooding, if this does not retract with the rest of the swelling. Also, my surgeon had to eliminate the holes in my earlobes when he reshaped them, so he told me that he will re-pierce my ears for me. I feel that I did get the best in available care through this entire process.
