Hey Fellow Bunion-pals!
I'm now wearing two matching sneakers and am able to drive again. :bouncing:
I'll be doing a few weeks of physical therapy, since I have my ankle and knee back, but couldn't stand on my toe if you paid me. This foot's recovery has been about 60% faster than my other foot, and it's almost strange to me to think that there are no more feet left to do! I can't even believe it.
I'm at the toughest recovery stage though, where you are ALMOST there for weeks! I get very swollen very quickly, so I have to watch it, but it's simply amazing to look down and see TWO feet that looked and felt so different only 8 months ago. Crazy.
Hang in there, everybody - there is a huge light at the end of the tunnel!

Joll43,
Congrats, I know it feels great to be in two shoes that match. This is the most critical time to be patient. I am on my second ankle sugery and have been out of the boot and in a lace up brace and sneaker for about 10 days and things have slowed down. Not as easy to walk without the boot, I have been to three sessions of PT and they are working on the swelling and range of motion. Now the bottom of my foot hurts - the heel -don't know what that is from, but it is frustrating. Good luck with your PT.

Lisa and Nancy--Great news you guys!!! I've been staring at my feet lately and love that they aren't deformed any more. They are full of scars and I'll never be a foot model but to me they look good. I can't wait for two matching shoes. I'm hoping that happens for me next week when I get another xray--its been 3-1/2 long months for this foot with the cast, boot, surgical shoe drill we've all experienced.

Lisa,
That is so great!!!! You're done, you did it, it's over!!!!!! Can you believe it??!! Yes, that darn swelling lingers for quite some time. It took a long time before shoes fit properly, Thank God for my Merrills in the beginning. How is your ROM on the first foot with your big toe. Mine is not 100% and I am beginning to resign myself to the fact that it may never be.
Im so glad for you that the second foot went so well. Now you can get crackin on those wedding plans!!!! If I knew where you lived, where the wedding will be, etc, I would just come on up to your wedding!!!! LOL

Sharon,
My ROM is okay, but I still have to work it all the time. It still feels stiff a lot of the time, but as long as I keep active, which I finally can, I feel like that will probably pass, or at least not bother me.
I'm in that stage that really confused and frustrated me when I did my left foot - because I'm now using it so much and it's not strong yet, it hurts all over my foot, and my ankle blows up to humongous proportions. I just have to ice & elevate it, and make sure I wrap it when I'm out for a while. My toe feels really weird right now - tingly and kinda painful, but not really - does that make sense?
So anyway, I start my actual PT this week and my ROM on this foot is actually pretty good already - since he didn't break the toe, it basically matches my other foot - so I think we're really going to concentrate on strength.
Have a nice weekend, everybody!!!
