Hey there, welcome to the boards. Have you been able to tell anyone about your ED? If you have you might want to say something about the physical stuff. It's probably related to the purging, especially if you purge a lot. It can mess up all your electrolytes and that stuff. I am straight anorexic, I've never purged, but I wanted you to know that I'm here if you want to talk. There are probably others that have experienced that more than me. But my advice is to maybe talk to someone if you can.

sweetheart, now is the time to get help. real, professional doctor/therapist help. i also was anorexic turned bulimic (no purging though, just massive binging and starvation and exercise the next day). i have been dealing with the binging part for about 9 months (although for the past few months it's just been binging at night: i force myself to eat "normally" the next day, cuz otherwise i know i'll just binge). it's living hell, so i know what you mean. anyway, i just started therapy last Wednesday, and my therapist said that she's hopeful that my recovery will be relatively quick because i haven't been dealing with this for that long. (to which i was like, "not that long?!?! it's been 9 MONTHS!" to which she said she understood how hard it was, but 9 months is not super hard to get over. it's still a relatively early point (not like 9 years), so it's easier to overcome because it hasn't been super ingrained. anyway, that's why i'd say get help now. from personal experience, i'd say it's nearly impossible to overcome the nighttime binging habit (even though for months and months i tried desperately to do it by myself). i gained weight too, and i'm hoping to either lose it from not binging (although i know i shouldn't think that way) or learn to accept and love my body the way it is. so really, i think you should go in and try to fix this before it becomes even more of a habit. good luck!

I would say to go for the professional help - does your doc know about the swelling in your legs or are you noticing for yourself? Docs can do lab work which can answer the questions you have about kidneys etc. I have had trouble in the past from too much throwing up, I have done some permanent damage to my throat.
I am one who is known for starving and then eating and throwing it up, I have never binged so I don't know much about that at all. But I do know that all the puking and starving has taken a huge emotional and physical toll on me and yet I keep doing it...been in therapy for quite some time..baby steps I guess
