CONGRATULATIONS to all of you --- sounds so wonderful the very thought of being able to bear weight. I'm at 3+ weeks post op now, and was given a boot after the 87 staples were removed. My foot still aches, it itches & tingles, but thankfully no more real pain. Having had the extensive surgical procedure I did -- I'm curious about PT after the toe pins are removed, which will be first week in August. You all have said they were not painful coming out ... but that too concerns me, as when the staples were removed, I thought I would fly through the ceiling. One of you mentioned shoes --- well most all of you did actually. Are there any particular brands to check out that are less ugly than most to wear once the boot comes off? Even though I haven't been posting, I'm still reading, and again, appreciate everything from all of you. By the way: I love the Roller Aid... if it wasn't for that contraption, I'd still be tied to bed, as I'm totally crutch challenged. We have mostly carpet, so it plugs along rather slow, but is still better than staying in bed. Continued Good luck to all of you. GG ((~.~))

GG--It depends on what kind of pins you are have in your foot. The hammertoe ones do hurt (they are almost 5 inches long) and you should have have the local numbing before having them removed. My doc said he wouldn't consider doing those pins with a local. Most people say the bunion pin removal doesn't hurt but I had screws rather than pins for my bunions.
I'm finally back to work after 3.5 months and my foot is getting very tired. I'm still in my surgical shoe but hope to be set free this week. I wear sketcher tennis shoes because they have a wide toe box or Clarks clogs (my doc doesn't recommend these but I can walk longer in them than tennis shoes. I'm not normally a tennie gal anyway.

Linda
