Anyone know about Dr. Simon Chung at Invova Hospital in Fairfax, Va? I am scheduled for surgery with him.

Hey there neighbor!! Am assuming you live in Vienna, Va. I had my surgery performed by Dr. Chung on May 16th at Fairfax Inova Hospital. Great guy, super surgeon and great staff to work with. I have a 2 month followup coming up with him on Wednesday in fact. Check out the thread I started way back when titled "Surgery scheduled for May 16th - scarred but resigned" and that gives you an idea of what you have to face coming up. Make sure you start doing the Kegle exercises right now and do alot of walking between now and your surgery date.

Dr. Chung really goes the extra distance to see that you are well informed and that all your questions are answered. His office nurse assistant (Mary) is just great to work with as is the rest of their staff there at Dominion. Any questions you have after reading the threads, just ask. Know that you are in the hands of one of the best.

When is your surgery scheduled? Best wishes,

Thom in VA. (Burke)

I am scheduled to see Chung on Wednesday also at 12:15pm. It is comforting to know you have confidence in him. I would love to talk with you about your experience. I met friday with Dr Engel at GW who does alot of these also.

My wife and I were not impressed! If you could call me I am at 703-281-4996 at home or 202-659-6160 at work.

I am curious about the robotic procedure. I am available anytime.

Thank you kindly.

Hey Chip!
Was good to talk with you the other day. How did thinigs go with Dr. Chung today? Hope all is set for the 4th. My follow up went well ... seems I am pretty much on track with recovery & I'll address that more in the other thread. We tallked about how you and I hooked up here on the Boards and that we had chatted by phone.

Anything I can do to help out ... just let me know. Does your wife have someone to wait with her while you're under? Depending on the time of your surgery, I may be able to pop by and bring her some Starbucks ... not that she will need anymore caffeine jolt ;) by then.

Talk soon.

Chipper Man, aka vienna man,
Congratulations on coming through the surgery with flying colors. Hope by now the abdominal discomfort/pain is subsiding and that your feeling better. The first few days aren't much fun, but knowing the "beast" is gone and you had negative surgical margins does make it worth the effort fighting through it all. Please give our best to your family and I look forward to seeing you guys again once you're feeling up to it.
Take care and we will do our thing at the support group meeting in October for sure. Was pretty neat seeing the same nurses doing their thing with you that did it for me back in May. Will check back with you upon our return from CA. Maybe if John in CA lives in the Long Beach area, I can hook up with him as well. Later.....
