My son is now 11 weeks, old, and I am breastfeeding. I also pump so that when I'm not home, I don't have to nurse in public. He is 14 lbs already ( 6.9 at birth). Here's the question, when I pump one breast, I get about 3-4 oz. I only feed on one breast per feeding. I hear from other moms that their kids are drinking 7 oz. per feeding! I know that he's gaining weight, but is 3 oz enough for him to drink every 3 hours? He's a reaaly happy baby I should add.

I would say if he has already gained 7 pounds that is plenty. I nursed my kids and I only nursed them one breast per feeding and they were all huge, milk babies.I think it is just fine.Ralinda :p

I was just about to post regarding the same questions! My DS was a preemie, born 6 weeks early-- (however he weighed 6pounds 3 ounces.) He is now 9 weeks old and weighs 11 pounds!!! Quite remarkable growth for such an early baby. Anyway, he is drinking anywhere from 3 to 6 ounces of breast milk, or soy formula every 3 hours or so. He is obviously growing well, but I worry about his little tummy. Is this a normal amount for a baby boy of this weight and size?
