The gym I belong to has steam rooms & dry heat saunas. Has anyone benefitted from the use of these? Are there any other benefits besides the cleansing of toxins? I guess I'm wondering if its a waste of my time to sit in there, or if I'm benefitting somehow?

Well, you end up losing water weight and I'm guessing the fact that it's nice and hot helps relax your body after an intense work out. I can't see it being detrimental to your health but if you enjoy sitting in the sauna, go for it.

Yeah it is actually beneficial for your health, although it is pretty much pointless in the summer. The sauna helps you sweat; ridding your body of toxins... it also opens up your pores and has been known to make people's skin glow, as well as mildly reduce physical aging (when taking saunas everyday). It's also soothing... but yes, it does dehydrate you, due to the sweating. So, make sure to bring a bottle of water with you into the sauna;)

Actually isn't the steam room the one that opens your pores and gives you a glow? Saunas are just dry heat right? I never did really see the point of a suane vs a steamroom. Seems like a steam room is a better option, especially when they put Eucalyptus oil in them, thats the best :)
