Hi, My husband for some years has had prostate cancer and has exhausted all the traditional medical treatments. I have been doing some research on alternative treatments and find quite often reference to an Australian aboriginal bush remedy which is reported to have some very positive results. The plant is an Australian native bush "scaevola spinescens maroon bush" which is used as an infusion or drink. I understand that the plant scaevola spinescens maroon bush is available and would like to know from anyone who has used it and of course any results. Thanks

OK - I am 51 - diagnosed 2 years ago and had surgery - lost all nerves. The wonder drugs just give me the feeling of having a stroke.

I got lost in the world of working longer hours and drinking. After about a year of this life, I realized the problem still existed and was not getting solved. I started going to a gym - worked less and got involved with the family more.

I am not what I used to be - those days are gone. So I started new - it first took me to convince myself that nobody is going to make fun of me. Hang in there - I don't know there is any cure other than guys admitting defeat and looking from within to make it the best.

Hello. I'm 52 and in the same position as your husband. It's not what you want to hear but I'm just making the best of the time that I have left. I think that if a remedy were available it would be on the front page of every paper and the drug company's would be fighting over the chance to market it. I'm very sorry for the situation that you are in. I hope your husband lasts a long time yet.

Hi Leander. I don't have any knowledge of the Australian remedy you mention, but maybe anything is worth a try if all other avenues have been explored. Can you tell us a little more about your husband's prior treatments? Did he have surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, and if so, when? Has the cancer spread to his bones? Does he have a current PSA reading? All of those factors might help people on this board come up with suggestions. If all the conventional treatments have been tried, maybe others here know about clinical trials or other experimental procedures. None of wants to think about the cases where medicine can't come up with an effective treatment, but the numbers tell us that it does happen. I know the guys on this board will offer any support we can.

Hi Leander,

I am a little late, but... Has he had hormone treatment? My FIL had a rod put in his arm (slow release hormones). It lasted a year and brought his PSA down to 0. They just put in a new one, but it is not supposed to last as long. Do not know how long. He is 90. We think it is great. Hardly any side effects and will buy him at least the 1st yr. and then some!

Hope you find something else to prolong life and make it quality life! Wannabe
