Hi all,
I have been experiencing a series of strange and frightening symptoms which began 3-4 months ago and simply don't know where to turn next. I'm a 21 year old male and my symptoms began after what felt the like flu from hell. I experienced symetrical swelling in the last joints of toes 2 and 4, was diagnosed with a 'chronic inflammation of the conjuntiva(sp)' by an opthamologist, and have had symptoms of prostatitis. When i met with my first rheumy a few weeks ago, he ran sed rate, c-reactive protein, ANA, HLA-B47(whatever the one is that checks for genetic predisposition to reiters), and RF. All tests came back negative. Also, i have recently developed a small, somewhat painful bump on the inside of my 3rd metacarpal phalanges joint on the right hand. The rheumy diagnosed me with reiters and told me it would probably just go away in time, but considering the symetrical joint involvement and this new bony protrusion(possibly a nodule?) I remain skeptical. Would a nodule form at a joint that has had no prior involvement in terms of inflammation at such an early point in the disease? Sorry for the length of this first post but i'm having a hard time dealing with all of this uncertainty.
thanks for the help,
Sib
