Greetings. Desperately looking for information on others who have successfully survived a hemorrhoidectomy. My greatest fear is that things are not going as they should and that I will need further "surgery". In my mind now, that is not an option. I am concerned that my swelling seems extreme, however this isn't something that anyone that I know has ever had done. I am also wondering true length of recovery. I have left my house once (today) for 10 minutes and can't imagine riding in a car yet. Luckily I'm on vacation and not due back to work for a few weeks. I've read alot of "horror" stories online and am hoping there are people who have had success with this surgery (have not developed fissures, additional surgeries, etc). Thank you for any information you are able to offer.

Hi, my husband had a hemhorroidectomy for both internal and external hemhorrhoids June 3rd. He was in a lot of pain at first, and definitely could not drive for a couple of weeks, but he has recovered very well, he was back to work after the two weeks and after a month to 5 weeks pretty much normal. If we needed to go somewhere I drove and he laid down in the back seat. All follow ups were clear, now he is out riding a bike, etc. We feel very blessed because we were very worried too...good luck with your recovery!
