We think my 6 month old has German Measles but the doctor doesn't want to see her  She said that her symptoms sound like German Measles and that it is going around at the moment but the only way they can tell for sure is by a blood test but that would be pointless because they can't do anything for it anyways... fair enough I don't want to put her through that if I don't have to. Imo the Dr. should see her anyways just to give her the once over but hey I'm not the medical expert. Anyways my question is... How long do I need to keep her home for? She's obviously not well enough to go out at the mo' but I know it's very dangerous for a pregnant woman to get it and don't know how long it's contagious for.
Thanks PJ

I don't really have answers for your questions. But what I do know is it is deadly for pg women. It is highly contagious. It is aka Rubella. (sp?) so if you are looking up info on it. Also I do think the dr should see her, however his reason for having you not come in is more then likely because he does not want to expose anyone to it by having your baby at his office. I think he was blowing you off. I don't know if there is something for it or anything else that you asked but I just giving you what I know about it.

How high is her fever? The dangerous part for pregnant women is the virus can cause birth defects in 1st trimester and the fever from the mom can cause damage throughout the preg.I had to get my rubella shot in the hospital after I delivered because the vaccine is a live virus and they told me to watch for symptoms for 2 weeks.I would be concerned for your DD my husbands uncle had it when he was a child and had serious life long side effects.

Thank you for your replies, We are going to the Dr's 1st thing and they WILL see her lol. It's now 4 am and she has a temp of 38.9 under the arm... Last night it was 39.4!! I called the off duty Dr. who didn't seem to think that it was German measles but "sounded" viral and just gave me advice on how to keep her temp. down... gee thanks. Poor baby :( She's never been poorly like this before and mommy doesn't like it one bit.
