Hi there...well it's that time and we've started giving DD rice cereal. She hates it and doesn't know what to do with it. My 1st child gobbled it up from day one a practically looked at me like "what took you so long to give me something real" So this behavior with DD is new to me. For those of you who've had ones that protested in the beginning, how long did it last? Last night I mixed in a little bit of peaches, thinking she'd like the taste over plain old rice mush. But she still hated it. Any hints?

How old is she? Maybe she's not ready for it yet? I'd try wait another week or so and trying again. Try mixing it as thinly as possible maybe.

Try making it thinner but offer it to her in a bottle. Just make the nipple hole slightly larger. Maybe it is the way she is getting it.

Hey Kiera - I'd make it thicker, not thinner, if it's warm, go cool, if it's cool, go warm. Mix in enough fruit (applesauce, bananas seem to work better than peaches at first, peaches can be kind of "strong" in the taste) so that when you taste it yourself, you'd eat it.
All 4 of my kids couldn't stand runny cereal, then I thought to myself, would I want to eat this runny stuff?
Hope it works, everyone's suggestions sound good. I don't agree with cereal in a bottle, but that's just me.

She's 4 1/2 months. I guess I'll give bananas a shot. For some reason the other day when I was at the store the baby food selection was way low, so there wasn't much to pick from. I've tried it thick and thin. But maybe I'll try it warmer. I know she doesn't mind tastes other than formula and breast milk as she always gets really excited when I give her Tylenol...funny girl :)
