Has anyone had a abreast lift, and the scars itch? I think i am developing keloid scars under my breasts. It is raised and itches. What can be done for this? I do have an appointment on the 28th, but was wondering if this happened to anyone else. The dissapointment for me is, this was my 3rd surgery, and this 3rd one was to fix the scars from my last surgery!!! Im a bit devestated-----but yes, i did know all the risks.

Princess, I had a breast lift in August 2004. I used papertape constantly for 2 months. The pressure from the tape keeps the scar from raising. I am totally shocked that you can't even see the scars. I tan also and they even get a tan.

How far post op are you?

Hey janet.............i think you have responded to my posts about breast lift's before.....anywayz i had my 3rd surgery May 13th. My PS didnt leave the tape on long enough, cuz i split open and got an infection! I am very fair, and scars dont look that good on me. They stay red for about a year, then i tan them also, as soon as they turn white! I have never had a keloid scar though. At least that's what i think this one is...it's raised. Oh, is your scar that is underneath your breast, really long? Like all the way across your breast? My last scar was pretty small-----this one goes all the way under my breasts! I truly have never been so dissapointed in all my life. Especially to go get cut up 3X, just to get it right............

That is good that you haven't had a keloid. So it may not be your gentics.

No, my scar was a lot smaller than I had expected. I am on my third set of implants (over the last 16 years) and this is the first time I have had saline, so I am guessing that is why my scar is only half way across (even though I had a lift too.). Kinda imagine a "J" scar. Thats what it looks like, plus the incision around my areola, of course.

I do think that somehow, someway, the surgeon's technique can play a role on how much you scar. (Genetics too.) These scars are incredibly unnoticable even though I've had a lift.

What is it that you are dissappointed about regarding your lift? The shape, scars, or both?

Hi Janet..........really, just this whole experience! I had such high expectations with this last one----he was to "fix" what this last joker did to me! You are right with the genetics-----mine suck!!!!! BUT, i am most unhappy witht the healing and scarring. This was absolutely tramatic (this 3rd time around) Im sure has to also do with my smoking past! On a positive note---i am happier with the shape. My last lift...wasnt even a lift. They flopped around and lots of loose skin! This one, way better!!! That is what i need to focus on, and it has only been 2 1/2 months......the scars will probably turn white within a year. Im concerned cuz the scar underneath ITCHES like crazy! I go in on Thurs, and will ask about that. I believe they can inject a steroid into keloid's. At least i think it is a keloid scar! It is raised and itches!!! I'll let you know how thurs goes. Thanxs for your posts. :)

Princess, I think they can inject a cortisone into it. If it says he is going to inject something like kenelog (a steroid), please talk to him about this. I have heard that it can make dents. But, on the other hand, I have had kenelog shots in my thighs due to tendonitis, and no dents....so go figure.

Why don't you try the paper tape now? Also, with my first set of implants (I am on my third set), I literally had my implant come out through my skin! Way back then silicone sheeting was unheard of (even my surgeon had never heard of it....I saw an ad in Glamour or one of those magazines), I used it on my scar. I don't know if it is the pressure or what (alot of the girls think so) but I would at least give the paper tape or silicone sheeting a try. Also Retin-A might assist.

Try silicone sheeting. You can get them in the anchor shape and wear them in your bra. They help prevent the scar from getting raised and may help with the color also.

Well i went to the doc today. He said the itching is from it healing. He put tape on them and i change the tape every 2 weeks and go back in 3 months. Has anyone had to tape their scars? And, did it help them? I asked him if in about a year, will they look this bad? He said no! I really hope he is right! Like i said, the scar under my breast, has raised a little! I sure hope the tape helps...............
