I have been very concerned about Ovarian Cancer for about 3 months now. I noticed that I have 2 of the common symtoms and have been panicking ever since. I have off and on indegestion/gas and frequent urination. I have anxiety disorder so i am not sure if im overreacting. My family definately thinks I am. The symptoms are worse around the time of my period and go away for the most part afterwards. I had a chronic UTI months ago so Im not sure if my bladder problem has to do with that. I have a good appetite and eat a lot so Im not sure if my diet is causing gas. The gas comes and goes, worse in the morning and late at night. I saw my gyn in April and everything was normal. I even asked about Ovarian Cancer and she said I wasnt "in that risk group". Please help, I am only 20 and really scared. Should I be concerned?

Ask for a CA-125 blood test--this would reveal ovarian cancer. Your doc can't refuse your request to have it. I have a family history of it and I asked for it and they did the test (thank God it was negative). Best wishes and try not to worry too much...Jitterygal

Just a little extra information. I have been researching Ovarian Cancer for months now and a CA125 will not tell you anything definitely. It is good to have as a marker so you can see if your numbers go up. Some women have OC with a normal number. A pelvic ultrasound, CT scan, and CA125 together give a much clearer picture than just the CA125. I have a lot of the symptoms of OC so am keeping track of things and doing a lot of research.

I have some health anxiety issues too. a couple of weeks ago I was having frequent urination and a feeling of heaviness in my pelvis. I symptom surfed and OC was like the worst thing it could be, so instead of assuming it was one of the more common diagnosis for my age group, I jumped on the OC thing and ran to my Dr and convinced him to do an ultra sound. There was nothing there. I told him I was thinking I had OC . he said not likely. After I got that reassurance my symptoms went awy in a few days. The fact that your symptoms come and go says a lot. If you had OC, the symptoms would not go away between periods. AND OC is extreemly rare in women under 40 . Have you had an exploratory lap? That would almost completely rule out cancer . Have you thought about endometriosis? I had it on my colon and had indigestion, gas, and abdominal pain...that would come and go. It can cause bladder problems as well. I think you can put this one to rest. If your dr was at all concerned, she would send you for more tests just to cover her own *ss. Please try to let this go. You are wasting so much time with worry and research that could be spent so much more positively. I'm not preaching, I'm speaking from expirience. I can't tell you how many months, well years actually that I've wasted with worry about things that I never had nor will I ever have. We are only young once and can't get the time back once its gone. Please try to let this go . I know its hard once you are convinced...take care, Scarlett
