Hi I'm Tara I'm 33 and have spastic diplegia ... I use a wheelchair
I have a big problem and I hope I can find some answers...
Last summer I went to my general doctor and told him my shoulder was killing me and that I couldn't take it anymore (3 fingers in my left hand kept going numb) and he sent me to a shoulder doc who sent me to a spine doc for an MRI and found out I had a pinched nerve. The doc was so rude acted like it was nothing didn't give me any medication for pain and was about to send me on my way when he said "Don't contact me again go back to your shoulder doc" ... I was quite upset and said but what about my pain and he wrote me a script for Bextra which did NOTHING... (said your cp caused the pinched nerve probably) but said nothing about helping me .. Now I'm not so sure it's
just the pinched nerve ...
A year later still having shoulder pain but now both my hands/fingers are starting to become painful and stiff (Mind you I've NEVER had any problems with my hands before) My bones ache sometimes everything hurts all at once.. I'm so fatigued all the time it's hard to deal with everyday things..
Holding a phone for a while can cause pain in my fingers - never did before ..
Am I the only one with these symptoms? Feel like I have a condition keeps getting worse that has nothing to do with my CP .. When I grip something sometimes my hand is so weak I don't even pick it up ... Then later on everythings okay and my strength is back ..
Doctors don't seem to want to help anyone with CP once they grow up ..
Okay I'm done I ranted ...
Thanks for listening..

The spine doc said he didn't want to risk surgery on me because it's in the Cspine area and didn't want to make me worse .. He kinda acted like he'd wish I just went away so he didn't have to deal with me, he acted like a pinched nerve was nothing and referred me back to the shoulder doc if I had any other problems... From what I've read if you don't do an MRI on a pinched nerve as soon as it was injured it's hard to pin point the problem. I waited a very long time before seeking treatment because something always hurts and usually goes away with the heating pad in time so I wasn't worried until I noticed that this was totally different... Now that it's been a year later and still in pain with increasing problems and since he acted like it was no big deal I was just wondering if something else was wrong...
Thank you for your relpy Katy

Have you tried a chiropractor? Sounds like their area. I have had good results with them. Good luck and best wishes.

Ortho doc said never go to a chiropractor and made me promise not to go to one before he retired. Thank you for the advice ... =)

Why did he say that? Lots of people here (including myself) have had success with chiropractors. I went to the kind where they use that spring thing on you... not the one where they pull you all around and stuff.
