It has been four months since I had laser resurfacing under my eyes. The area is still red and sore. How long should it take to heal?

Sorry for your experience. Did you use erbium or co2 laser? What nationality or race are you? Please don't say erbium.........Thanks.

I am caucasion, and I don't know which type of laser was used. I'll call my doctor and find out. I'll let you know.

Hi. I had laser under my eyes in 1997, when lasers were first becoming widely used. I still have some residual redness right at the place where the lasering stopped (bottom of eye area above my cheeks). At one point, the plastic surgeon offered me some sort of ointment to reduce this redness and I regret that I didn't accept it. It is easily covered with makeup so it doesn't really bother me, but you should at least check with your doctor to see if anything can be done before more time goes by.

PS - I had a lot of wrinkles under my eyes in 1997 before the resurfacing and they have never come back!

Thanks for replying. I will check with my doctor about the redness. Except for your redness, it sounds like you're happy with your results. I hope I will feel the same way too.

Nancy

So you had Erbium or Co2 laser resurfacing? I am encouraged that your wrinkles never came back. Did you use sunscreeen or additional treatments of some sort? I am going with Erbium on Monday. I'm pretty nervous, so any experiences you could share would be helpful.

Hi ya'll - I talked w/ my dermatologist last year about the Erbium lasering underneath my eyes (I'm 44). He told me it would get rid of my fine lines and undereye circles. I'm going to talk to him some more in about a month, but I have a question: Since lasering actually burns the skin and creates "new" skin, wouldn't/isn't it obvious that the undereye skin is "newer looking" than the rest of your face? What I mean is can't you tell a difference between under your eyes (where it was lasered) and where it wasn't lasered? Also, how much did it cost you and how long before you could go out in public before scaring the bejeesus out of people? If I have it done, I need to know how much time I'm gonna need to take off from work and also I really don't want the people I work with to know about it. (afraid they'll think I'm vain). Thanks so much for your answers.
