I've got a fatty liver, non-alcoholic liver disease(?) in fact. And basically by doctor sent me to see the dietitian because I need to loose weight as I'm around 2 stone over weight (I think I should be about 12st 5lbs but am about 14ish). I've cut out ALL junk food, and fatty snacks apart from some when temptation gets to much and I have a little nibble, and also exercise everyday (step aerobics & weights) which seems to be helping in weight lose!

I must admit I do still drink beer but have been drinking Vodka and Diet Coke of late, and I'm just wondering how drinking will effect my liver. I have to say also that I do binge drink and I know it's not good to do this but I'm just looking for advice really on the effect etc. Also is my condition life threatening because my doctor/liver specialist didn't say.

Cheers,

Sedo.

By the way, I've had an Ultra Sound and nothing showed up out of the ordenery, it was the Liver Function Test that showed up the fatty liver. Also get a little achey around the rib cage area from time to time.

Actually my GP told me today that drinking won't effect it if I drink the recommend amount of units :).... just don't excessively drink.

Hi Sedo -
Nothing to excess is good except laughter and good friends...... Being overweight is a problem.... I can say this because I used to be very overweight but conquered that long ago.
BUT, to put your mind really at ease, get a blood test....., eat a healthy diet, and take your vitamins/supplements daily. :) :) :)
