My DD has red bumps all on her right side of her face. This is the side she sleeps on. At first I thought it was a heat rash because I only saw it after we got out of the car but last night my sister was watching her for me and she mentioned that she didn't think it was heat rash but an allergy to Dreft the detergent I used. How would I know if that was it? Today I am starting her on the Soy formula so I guess by doing that that will eliminate if it was the formula. I swear my DS wasn't a normal child I never had any questions about him because he never had anything. Now I feel like an idiot always coming on here and asking questions. I just don't know how to tell what is wrong with her face.

You will probably just have to rule things out by process of elimination. I have been very lucky with my DS also and not many/to any problems. But wonder if I will be that lucky this time. I have heard of another detergent that some use, but don't remember the name. I am sure someone will jump on with some great ideas. The only other thing I could think of would be baking soda? Don't know how good a job it would do, or if it would be less irratating. Has she started any new juices or foods. You do know to introduce one at a time and for 3 to 5 days so if she has an allergic reaction you will know? I wrote mine on the calendar so I could keep up with what and when he ate, and drank stuff for the first time. How old is she and is this her first break out? Is she only broke out on her face? Did you use a baby wash , lotion or soap of some kind. Did anyone hold her that had on perfume or perfumed powder of some kind, cause if its just on her face and they held her the reaction could be to that. I would think if it was the detergent you would see it in areas that her clothing touched also.

She is 6.5 weeks old. It is only on her right side of her head and face. I think it's from sweating at night because she is a very hot natured lil girl. My Mom also thought it could be she spits up during the night and doesnt' move her head out of it. I mean like you said it would be other places too and it's not. She just started Soy today so maybe she was allergic to the other formula or maybe it is purfume. I notice it more when her dad comes to visit and he has on cologne. I do use night baby lotion but it said it was OK for this young age. And again I use that all over her body not her face. My DS was so simple lol......We woke up ate played ate slept ate some more and slept some more lol. I just feel like I am not doing a good job this time around. :(

My Ds is 6 weeks and he has red bumps on both his cheeks but I think it is acne. Baby acne is little red bumps too. Just a thought . . .

My son is 12 weeks, and for the last 2, he has has a rash, the the doctors told me was really bad dry skin. It turns out to be eczema. It's nasty! But just FYI, the night time lotions all have a lot of fragrance ion them, it could definitely be irritating.

Thanks!!!!!! I think for atleast a week I won't put any on her and see what happens. It's a calming lotion at night so maybe that is it....

I don't use any products with fragrance or extras in them. I think they are so harsh and no one really knows if these additives are good for you. I use Arm and Hammer Clear for sensitive skin for our clothes and I definately do not use a dryer sheet. Those are really harsh. Maybe try not using any fragranced products for awhile to see if this is the prob. Hope things get better. :)

I use dryer sheets but they are fragrance free.
