Has anyone had their varicose veins stripped? How was the procedure done and what were the long term effects? I am asking as my 14 year old daughter has a bunch of large varicose veins in her left leg from the knee down which cause here discomfort and achiness. One specialist said that because of their severity the only thing he recommended was the stripping. We will be seeing another specialist soon to get a second opinion. Her lower left leg is a little larger than her right one and also has edema behind her knee. On dopplar us it showed a mass a varicose veins behind the edema.

Hi gypsy704,
I've heard that EndoVenous Laser Treatment (EVLT), is very good for fixing varicose veins for the long term. Not really sure though, you may want to check with different doctors on this procedure, I wish you daughter lots of luck, please post back and let us know.
