Has anyone had botox on lower face and neck. I have heard about the drawbacks. possible drooling etc. My derm is trying to talk me into doing smile lines. have had it on forehead and love it.curious if anyone has been brave enough or crazy enough to try in lower.

The plastic surgeon I went to for botox around the eyes said that botox does not work well for smile lines. He suggests collegen for smile lines.

I've read that botox is good for the upper face and collagen and the like for the lower face.

Unlike the rest of you smart people, I had never heard not to use botox on the lower face. I went to a different person for botox this last time. She suggested botox in my lower face as well as the usual forehead frown lines and crowsfeet around my eyes. She gave me an injection on each side in jaw area. No problems except if I smile really big the right side is not as broad, sort of a lopsided smile. Also, if I am eating something like a large sandwich, I have to pull down my lip on the right side or it gets between my teeth and the sandwich. It's not that big a deal and I know it is only temporary. I'm certainly glad I'm no going around drooling! This lady had a great touch, I could hardly feel the injections and she left no pin marks. I think I will go back to her but no more botox in my jaws. I think she was trying to relieve the downard pull of my mouth, which I am all for. :( Any suggestions how I might acheive this? I've had collegen injections in and around lips and did not care for that either. I looked like Daffy duck for a while. And I did not like the feeling that there were lumps of something in my lips. Oh, to be naturally beautiful.

lines on sides of mouth.want them gone.Last time I saw dr. see had hers done and she looked puffy or something. they inject somewhere on sides of neck to freeze muscles that work smile lines. I guess its risky, her mouth works but she just looks weird.

Have you done any chemical peels? I have had several and they can help a little. Or lazer resurfacing. I have been on Obaji Nu Derm for over 4 years and it does help with the wrinkles. A year ago I had collagen put in my upper lip and in my nasal folds (wrinkle from nose to mouth) and it looked amazing. I wanted to see the improvement a little touch up would make and it made a big difference to me. There are small facial implants that they can put in the nasal fold area to plump up that area but I would definiately go to a qualified plastic surgeon for anything like that. I will be getting the "works" done on my 40th birtday.

Janet, The botox in the upper part of the face is relieve the intense, stern, look of concentration or anger around my eyes. It works.
The botox in the lower part of my face was to try to relieve the downward pull at the corners of my mouth. Gravity is doing a number on me! Botox is not the answer for this. I don't really know what is--maybe a facelift or some lip procedure. The facelift would also help with the Nixon jowls! Bonus! :D

I understand about Nixon! I am 36 and really don't have any problems yet, but both my mom and grandmother only really had problems with lower face, so I am expecting that to be my issue also.
I do think that they have "lifts" specifically to target the jowels. I was also wondering if maybe a cheek lift might bring up/tightenen skin around mouth area.
I am getting ready to relocate from Dallas to Houston and once I get settled in I do plan on consulting about those implants I mentioned earlier referring to the lip enhancement and the implants you can place in the nasal fold area (Lines from nose to outsides of mouth).
I loved the results from collagen, it just didn't last very long....
