My doctor just called to inform me that they don't take my insurance! They said they'll try to find someone who accepts my insurance, but haven't gotten back to me yet. This is the only GI doc in my area and now I don't know what to do or where to go! I don't want to have to travel hours away for a colonoscopy!

Do you have a copy of your "Summary Plan Description"? It's the booklet that tell you who's eligible for insurance, what is excluded, how much the plan pays, gives definitions etc.
Check for a part that says something like " Services not Available Within the Service Area". Most plans will agree to cover the treatment from a Non-Network provider (your doctor) minus any copayments that would normally apply.
Definitely call your insurance company in any case!!
