Hi everyone. I'm new to this board. I'm 31 and have had CF since I was 18 months old. I had been very health for someone with CF until recently. I have even had the chance to have 2 beautiful children. 3 weeks ago I had to have my gall bladder removed and the surgeon discovered that I had cirrhosis of the liver. After more ultrasounds and blood work, they discovered that I also am a carrier for Alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency. Even though there is liver damage, my drs. feel that it will not get worse. After reading info. on the web and other message boards I get the feeling that once the damage is done, it can only get worse. What I would like to know is there anyone else with CF or have a CF child and is dealing with either liver damage as well or Alpha-1 or both. The drs. assure me that it should not get worse but how are they really to know. Would appreciate any info.
