I was just diagnosed 2 days ago with Bipolar2. I have an eating disorder and have had depressive, manic episodes most of my life, however I was never diagnosed Bipolar, just Borderline Personality Disorder, Bullemia and Depression. Anti depressants in the past have never worked, usually they make me more depressed or super manic or super impulsive. The doc prescribed me something called Lamictal. I am not sure if I should take it, has anyone tried it, side effects? Also, I met with doc 2 days ago and he said he was closing his practice and moving away as of the 1st of Sept and he said I am ectremely difficult to treat, said I need a dialectical therapist, but could not reccomend one in the area or even find one on line. So what am I supposed to do? I think it was unethical for him to even accept a new patient if he knew he was closing his practice. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Docs are bus people too. That's a sad fact. :( I'd be willing to bet that someone or someplace has offered him more cash.
Contact a mental health clinic in your area to find a dr.

Wow, you have some issues to settle. I've never heard of dialectical therapy, muds right find the local state supported mental health clinic/organization and ask questions. Welcome to the boards!

Hi... It is difficult to be diagnosed with this anyway, and then to have the therapist throw all of that at you as well. Gosh, I'm sorry that happened to you. You are right... It was very unethical. The others are right you need to find a new tdoc right away. Do what is best for you right now. Hang in there and take care of yourself...exercise, eat well, and get plenty of sleep (and that is asking a lot when you are not feeling well when being depressed or manic). Hang in there.
