During the "fasting" preparation for a colonoscopy, is it OK to drink Gator Ade (any flavor except RED)? How about Gator Ade (Lemonade Flavor) in that yellowish color?
My colonoscopy is scheduled for this coming Wednesday, 7/27/2005, and I I'm dreading the prepration more than the procedure.
P.S. Which would be recommended for Fleets Phospho-Soda....Unflavored or Ginger Lemon?

check you instructions - see if it says clear fluids versus colourless fluids. When I had fleet prep I could have clear ie consomme, chicken broth, ginger ale, water, since I don't like gatorade I don't remember if that was onthe list.
Understand your anxiety - been there done that Fleet! Wishing you a clean prep and a clean scoping report.
i'm starting to prep now for Surgery Tuesday am.

I have had many colonoscopys in the last year and 1/2 so I have this down. One of the things I think is important is to eat light the day befor you fast. The less you have to get rid of the better. You can drink anything that is not red and I didn't do orange just to be safe. Water is always the best. Yellow jello, and broth is fine. One thing I do the day of the prep befor I start on the fleet is to be kind of busy, go for a walk ect.I like the small bottle of flavor fleet and just down it and have a water chaser. It is a hell of a lot easier than doing the gallon. My husband did the pill and he did not get cleaned out enough and it did not work so he has to do it again. the main thing is that you want to be completely clear when you go to the bathroom. It is just one day in your life and it can save you a world of pain in the future.

Thanks lizard50. I double checked my instructions and I can definitley have the liquids I first inquired about. I think to be extremely safe so as to not mess this up, I will stick with the Chicken Broth, Gator Ade (Lemonade Flavor) and Water ONLY.
Did you have to take two (2) doses of Fleets Phospho-Soda (one 1.5 oz bottle the night before and a second 1.5 oz bottle the morning of the procedure? This is what my instructions call for. I'm supposed to report in by 7:00 AM Wednesday and instructions indicate I should take the second 1.5 ozs of Fleet at 5:00 AM the morning of the procedure. I'm afraid this will have me "going" around the time of the procedure. I think I'll take the second dose around 3:30 or 4:00 AM instead. I'm so afraid of "crapping" on myself on the way to the hospital. :)

I have had the Fleet and in my case it was both bottles at once. In Ontario now though Fleet phospho soda is not used, it causes heavy electrolyte loss and had led to severe complications in some patients. I know that one of the two times I used it I was very tired and run down, they had to give me saline by IV before the c'scopy. This means that sport drinks like Gatorade are especially good during a prep as they replace electrolytes. However it should be noted that the new one, "Propel" does not contain electrolytes, just water, sugar and flavoring. If it isn't Gatorade, check the label for what's in it. BTW I found that I liked a store brand orange flavor best and the surgeon had no problem with orange coloring.
