simonsmom- -good job quitting, even if you are 1/2 way through your p-nancy...good girl! I smoked straight through my first PG, (32 yrs ago) Lucky for me, (and him), he was born totally healthy and weighed 7 lbs, 15 ounces. It didn't seem to effect his learning abilities, as he always made good grades in school, and graduated at top 10% of his class, went on to college, and is doing fine. Lucky for me, he never smoked either, hates it!
Second preg,, (27 yrs) and same thing...kept smoking UNTIL about 6 weeks before her birth. She weighed 7.6 lbs, and was very healthy. I later, (many yrs later) thought, oh my goodness, that poor baby must've went through some terrible withdrawls before she was born! I felt terrible when that thought finally occured to me. She's always done well too, with grades, and she teaches high school, BUT, she is one very restless person, and has always been that way. She has to constantly be moving and on the go--to an extreme, (I think), and I've wondered if it's a result of that pre-birth stress she went through??!! She also doesn't smoke. I thank God for my healthy children, as I know a lot of things could've gone wrong. :)
