Please can anyone help me out there? I would be so very grateful for a reply.
Can you get a late diagnosis for CF? I am 37 and struggling to live a normal life.
My symptoms are: childhood: constant Bronchitis and chest infections. Adult, diagnosed asthma, lots chest infections, lots bronchitis, pneumonia a couple of times, currently last five years been getting worse, but now last two years are coughing up buckets of mucus that is so hard to shift. It is very hard to move and I produce a lot of blood and end up vomiting too. I cough so violently I sound like I am homeless and drunk! It is so very embarrasing. It is also disabling and I spend weeks at a time being ill and then it all happens again. I mainly get this violent cough every time I get a cold (get virus' and colds very often) but I can also produce these symptoms out of the blue when rarely healthy. I have to have a 'clear out' every morning upon standing up each time I have a virus. I have to bang my chest so much to help get it all up else it wont come easily. I can have lots of clearing out to do all day long or sometimes just 4-5 times a day. Does this sound possible to be like CF or anything else anyone else has heard of? I am desperate now. No-one medically knows what to do with me - They are at a loss. I get different suggestions as to what it might be ('wierd' asthma, broncheictasis, even emphysema even though I have never ever smoked, also told it is not asthma). So far I have not been given a diagnosis of anything. My symptoms are very extreme and I am unable for most of the winter (and part of summer) to look after my young family, which is getting desperate. I had a very disinterested Consultant who didnt want to know. I am going to see a different consultant in a few days time and would like any help prior to this please. Thank you very much for any help. PS: I cannot cope much more, and nor can my family.
