my 2 week old granson has colic and nothing seems to help. Dr. changed formula and said to give him mylacom, but still suffers. My son had colic and i know time heals, but if you have thoughts please help. I used to give my son a drop of peppermint oil in some warm water.
Thanks, Dyana

A lot of people on here recommened I read this book called, The Happiest Baby on the Block. I held out on getting it since I didn't really want to spend the money but I did and I read it and it has helped me with DS. My little guy cried a lot and by 5 weeks I was getting very desperate. I would really suggest you read it. But I also learned a lot by trying everything with DS just to learn waht makes him happy and soothes him. It took time but we find more stuff every day that he likes. He loves being in water, in the tub or pool. He loves being in his stroller and rode through the grass. It is a rough ride and it soothes him. He loves if you carry him and walk like you normally would. No easy steps or anything, a normal fast walk, almost as if you were power walking. He loves being in his swing if we rock it faster then it normally goes. (His swing lays almost all the way down.) He loves if you hold him and dance and sing with him. And this is not the slow stuff, he wants to dip and sway all over. Turns out, what it all comes down to, we were being to quiet and gentle with him. He wants motion and movement. Personally I think the doctors like to label every crying baby as colicky. I am not saying your grandson isn't. I just think the docs label too fast. You have to find what makes them happy. Don't take this wrong it is just a personal feeling. I didn't believe my DS had colic, he was just unhappy and I had to try to find what he was looking for. We have found some things he likes and now the trick is knowing which one he is crying for.

My son was colicky for a few weeks around 6 weeks old. It's very tiring and stressful, but it will go away. We had formula issues in the beginning and finally switched to Nestle Good Start with Comfort Proteins. One of the best decisions we ever made! He changed over night! While he was colicky, we would run the vacuum cleaner and immediately he would be quiet. Also, my husband and I passed him back and forth bouncing him, hugging him, singing to him, etc. - that helped too.
Good luck...

DS was very fussy the 1st several month of life. He too liked a lot of movement to make him happy. By accident we found that he loved old James Brown. I'd put that on and dance with him for a few minutes and he'd fall asleep. I got so sick of that CD..but it always worked. It was the beat. I like a product called Gripe Water. For bad bellies you can lay them down on their back. Rub their tummy softly and then pump their little legs...it helps to get gas out. Soy formula also worked well for me.
