Hi..my best friend of all my life, Melissa, was diagnosed w/ CF when she was 3. Now, that we are 16, I've seen her health slowly decrease. I don't really know much about the disease but, her dad tells me that the doctors have tried everything. He mentioned something about having to have a heart and lung transplant..and that that was there last option b/c nothing else helped. Has anyone had this surgery or have heard of anyone having it? PLEASE HELP ME!
Also, she recently had another Sweat Test (I think that is what it's called) and she had an 123. What does that mean?
Always, Kat

You can search Cystic Fibrois on a seach engine and also search the sweat test and maybe find your answers. I am sure your friend is so lucky to have a good friend like you stick with her. I know she has really suffered. My cousin died at age 12 of CF. Your friend has lived a long time. I know someone who had a kidney transplant and it went well. I will pray for your friend.

I'm 17 with CF...Mine is still pretty mild at this point. What I don't understand is why they would have done another sweat test, the sweat test is a diagnostic test,so unless they were questioning her diagnoses I don't really know why they would do another one.
The sweat test measures the amount of sodium chloride in the sweat, most people with CF loose abnormal amounts when they sweat.123 is definently positive.
