I had bypass surgery about a month ago. Since then I have been bloated and constipated very badly. In the hospital I went once in over a week with the help of a laxative.
Since I have been home, I have used stool softeners, but they only help a little and take a few days to work. The only thing that produced a dencent movement was Peri Colace (with a laxative included in the pill)
I am nauseaus a lot of the time and very unconfortable.
I drink lots of water and try to walk. I have pain in my lower back probably from all the gas, although I have been releasing gas too.
What to do? I tried a Fleet enema, but couldn't hold it long enough for it to be effective. I hate to keep taking laxatives. Is that all I can do? The doctors don't seem to have too many answers either.
I've long stopped taking the painkillers that cause constipation.
