I just dyed my hair and my hair is lighter closer to the roots. The rest of the hair is still brown..what's wrong? Could it be medications that I take?

Monserrat 07-27-2005, 01:02 AM I just dyed my hair and my hair is lighter closer to the roots. The rest of the hair is still brown..what's wrong? Could it be medications that I take? tigger_girl76 07-27-2005, 07:21 AM Were you putting color over hair that's already been colored? If so, maybe your hair had grown out at the roots so that's how you have 2 different shades? moonlily 08-22-2005, 12:04 PM Your hair took the dye stronger at the roots. Did you apply it exactly as the instructions said? Scalp heat causes the dye to be more active at the root level. Marie55 08-22-2005, 03:58 PM New hair growth is less porous than hair that has been processed in the past. The dye will not take as dark on the new hair growth as it does on the more porous previously dyed or permed or straightened or bleached hair. Apply dye to the new growth according to instructions, then, and only then spread over rest of hair that is more porous. |
