View Full Version : Buddy System - Post here & Tell all!

My Kids Dad
11-27-2000, 08:11 AM
Okay ...... Today I am getting back to exercising and watching my diet!

Anyone wanna join in and use the buddy system? Of course .. by being buddies on the internet, we have to be honest, and supportive, or there is no use to even starting this .... agreed?

Here's the deal:

We'll use this forum as sort of a diary. If you have something you need or want to tell, post it here ... and be honest! If you do extremely well, or if you fall off the wagon and eat a quart of cookies and cream, this is where you put it!

We don't have to reveal our weight (unless you want to), but we can let everyone know if we lost any weight .... or if we feel extremely good about ourselves for the progress we have achieved.

Remember .... we have to be supportive of each other .. so praise posted here is expected!

Me ..... I'm a 48 year old male, (though I live a somewhat younger lifestyle, with still having two small kids - 9 & 7) and I want to loose maybe 10 - 15 pounds, and get back to physical exercise. Just say I want to tone up and slim down a little. I'm a none smoker, very light drinker, and spend a lot of my work day at a desk on a computer (though I can get up and move around alot). I will not be able to post actual amounts of weight lose, as I do not own a scale. I was always told to not judge by a scale, go by the way your clothes fit, and the way you feel about yourself .... therefore, I threw mine away!

Any others want to join?
Come on ... we can do this!

Ok I’ll join. I’m 30 lbs overweight & here’s my plan to lose the weight:

1. Eliminate sugars from diet
2. Eliminate all starches from diet
3. Reduce fat intake
4. Drink lots of water
5. Take daily vitamins
6. Exercise five times a week

Welcome aboard falcon http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Looks like you have a good plan .... just be careful and don't burn yourself out on the exercises. I think that is where I run into a problem sometimes ... I'll get so involved in my workouts, that I will break my routines in half (do certain body parts one day .. others the next) .. and before I know it, I'm exercising 6 days a week.

Again ... welcome aboard, with two of us now ... we have a "group"! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I am a college student and I am fearful of gaining weight while at college. Just this past weekend I came home and saw all my friends from high school and they are chunky now. Which makes me feel better because without knowning it, I've lost 5lbs while I was here. But they noticed that I had lost weight and that motivated me to get to the gym so I can REALLY lose some weight. Here are my stats: I am an 18 year old female, and I weigh about 150. My goal weight is 135-140. I am at the right weight for my height, which is 5'7"...but I want to feel better about myself.

Today I went to the gym and walked/ran on the tredmill for about 16 min then I went on the bikes for maybe 5 min. I also had 10lb weights and I was working on my arms. Then I went back on the tredmill for about 10 min. Is this a good excerise? Or should I be doing more weight lifting to get the fastest weight loss? I am actually clueless on what to do for losing weight fast. I'm glad this board is here!!!

Hi tianna ... and thank for joining up for our buddy system http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif I've always felt when you have support, or someone keeping you motivated, it makes things alot easier.

I think you are approaching this routine and goal in the right manner. What I have always done is to do my arobic, or cardio if you will, exercises first. I use a stair climber here (because that is what I have) to get my heart rate up, and to get my blood flwoing good. I then do some stretching to warm up the muscles and to avoid injury to a muscle or a joint. After the stretching, I do my routine with my free weights .... some stretching afterwords to help keep the muscles from cramping.

It depends on what you want to achieve from the weights as to how much weight you use. To tone the muscle, use lighter weights and do more reps. To build the muscle, use more weight, and do as many reps as you can without injurying the muscle. Make sure you breath properly, and concentrate on your technique. This is very important.

One concern I had with your post was, you wanted to loose the weight real quick. Try not to loose weight to quickly. Make sure you eat properly, drink plenty of water, and the weight will come off. Also remember, if you are building muscle, the weight will not come off as quick, as muscle weighs more then fat. Just be sure to feed your body well, with all the exercise you are putting it through, it needs the energy.

I find when I really get into my routine, I tend to start eating a lot more then I normally do, because I am burning so much more fat and energy.

Good luck ... and again .. Welcome!

Good Morning Everyone .....

Looks like it's gonna be another busy day today for me! Since I have my little ones for Christmas this year, I can't wait until the last minute to start my shopping like I (and most guys) usually do. I actually started yesterday, and I know that's got to be a record for me!

This morning, I think I'm gonna warm up a little on my climber, and do a few stretches ... and then do a little work with the free weights. Since it's been a while since I touched the weights, I'm gonna start with pretty light weights. I don't want to wake up tomorrow morning, and tell you on here that I can hardly move because my muscles are so sore. That's a good way to get discourged.

How's everyone doing? Remember .. don't burn yourself out .... we can do our cardio stuff everyday, but if you are working out with weights, or doing work with your muscles (such a leg lifts or something) try and keep those to every other day routines.

Keep us informed .... we're all here for each other! And above all else ... Have a GREAT DAY!

Well, so far today has been ok. It's my busiest day of the week so I'm unable to go to the gym. What can I do here at my dorm to make up for that? Any suggestions would be great!!!

Hello.
Well I'm keeping to my diet, although I find it extremely difficult not to eat snacks after 6:00pm. My "old" habits included fast foods and sweet snacks late in the evening. I know if I can stick to my diet and develop healthy habits, the weight will come off eventually. So far I've lost 2 lbs. yipee! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

My workout today consists of 1 hr of step & cardio combo in the evening. I like to maintain variety in my workouts so I don't burn out.

Dave, this is turning out to be pretty good. Discussing our daily plans makes it easier to follow thru. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Tianna ....

Maybe what you can do is schedule your workout days around your busy schedule. On the days that you can't make it to the gym (and maybe only go 3 days a week anyway, unless you alternate your routine), maybe you can do some cardio exercises. Do you have a bike? Are there stairs in your apartment? Anything to get that heart rate up, and keep that blood flowing. This is a good way to burn up some of those fat cells we want to get rid of.

Another thing you can do is stretch! That's always good to do. EVERYBODY needs to do some stretching ... even if your 70 or 80! Flexability is important no matter what age you are.

You can try some crunches ... or what ever you like to do for the abs. (Yuke .. I hate working the abs!)

Sometime soon, I will explain on here how I do my crunches. I have a little trick, or way that I do them, and it seems to work fine!

Have a GREAT Wednesday!

Hi Falcon http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm happy to see you are having some success with your routine and your goal! Every little bit helps .... that's how it got there, a little bit at a time, and that's the best way to get rid of it.

I too am very weak at night. I work something like a second shift, go in around noon, and get off as soon as I can get out of the office http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif My "routine" is to come home, check my email, and EAT! Once I break that routine, I do a lot better.

I have to say though, today was not a day for me http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif I have been sick to my stomach all day, and really should have came home early. I have one of those jobs though that HAS to be done ... and in a certain time frame everyday. One good note (not really) .. is that I didn't eat anything all day today. Even the thought of food made me sick. Tomorrow will be better though!

I agree ... I think something like this "buddy system" will work great! I think it is so much easier to achieve a goal if you have someone supporting you all the way!

Have a GREAT day ......
Dave

Dave,
Hope that you're not coming down with the flu. I just got over one, lasted for 2 weeks.

I'm sure you realize it's bad to go an entire day without eating. Try to eat something -- even if it's a small snack every few hours.

My exercise for today will be 1 hr of upper body workout with small weights.

Mike1221

Do 30 min of cardio before you lift weights
If you are working out 3 times a week try this program
30 min cardio 3-4 times week
bench press 2 set 10-12 reps
dumbell bench press 2 sets 10-12 reps
Tricep pushdowns 2 sets 10-12 reps
tricep ext w/dumbells 2 set 10-12 reps
barbell curls 2 sets 10-12 reps
dumbell curls 2 sets 10-12 reps
squats 2 sets 10-12 reps
leg curls 2 sets 10-12 reps
leg press 2 sets 10-12 reps
crunches 2 sets 25
Ask anyone in your gym if you don't know what these exercises are. After you do this workout for about two weeks move up the 3 sets. Then when three sets are to easy move your weights up. Keep a log of how much weight you lift each time you lift if its to easy raise it to heavy lower it you get the idea. good luck

I've been reading the posts and it's seems like you've got a good thing going here, Dave. So, I thought I would join in.

Well, here it goes. I've lost 50 lbs. since graduating from college. I've been able to keep it off for 6 years now. I fluctuate + 10 lbs. I'll gain some weight and then really watch what I eat and lose it again. I definitely don't go -10 lbs.

Anyway, I know what I have to do to keep the weight off. I have a VERY hard time staying away from sweets. Especially ice cream, cake and stuff like that. I really don't care for chocolate at all, but give me a piece of coffee cake and watch out! You have to hide the rest of the cake!

I've been trying to slow down on the sugar, but I find it very difficult. So, when I do go off the deep end - I will substitute that for my lunch or dinner, or both. I know that's not the best way to do it. But, it's working for now.

I exercise every day of the work week. I'm in the gym from 6 - 7 am Mon - Fri. My work-outs vary, but I always run about 2-3 miles on the treadmill, then I vary the weight routine. It's the only way I can fit it into my busy schedule.

Well, there's my story. Hope everyone is hanging in there! Stay strong!

Well folks, I love this board already. Getting the responses is great! Well, today I went to the gym. I couldn't go in the morning becuase I slept in (d'oh!) so went this evening. It always feels soooooo good to work out. I don't know why I don't do it more often. But today I walked on the tredmill (at a medium pace) for about 20 min. Then I went on the bikes, lifted weights, ran, bike, jump rope, weights, walked, and bike again. So I was there for about an hour. I think I'm going to stick with that for a while. But I weighed myself and it looks like the weight is coming off. So I'm happy. Keep up the good work, guys!!!

Dang ...... you guys are making me look bad today http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

As I had posted yesterday (Tuesday), I was very sick to my stomach (I think it was something I ate the day before at work) so eating, exercising, and even work was just about out of the question.

Today .... I woke up feeling a lot better, but still just a little queezy. I did manage to eat a bagel with a little peanut butter (first food since Monday), and some water. Of course, only after I got to work, I started getting hungry ... and by 3:00pm, I was STARVING! Now ... this evening I am feeling a lot better, so Thursday morning I am going to get back to my cardio, stretching, and some weights. I think I will do my chest and arms, and save my abs for the next day http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I want to say welcome to our newcomers too! The more the better in this group.

You know, it doesn't matter if you have 20 - 30 or 130 lbs. to lose, when you have supporters, it's always better.

Keep up the good work everyone .... it sounds as if everyone is doing great!

Hi, i am new to the boards, but i think a buddy system is a great idea. I started a new eating lifestyle in February, and i have lost a total of 92 1/2lbs. i weighed 293 lbs,and was so miserable. my doctor scared me by telling me i was going to die of a heart attack if i didn't change my lifestyle. I am only 38 yrs old,and as the mom of 2 children, the thought of them growing up without a mom scared me. I want to lose 35 more pounds, and i will!!! I don't really have anyone to talk to about my struggles, because all my friends are thin, and my husband couldn't care less if i'm fat or fit. I think the hardest thing is accepting the "wow , you look great" comments that i get from people. Not that i don't like those comments, they just make me get choked up. I was never overweight until i got pregnant with my daughter (12yrs ago) I gained 100lbs,and just kept gaining from there. I have finally conquered my food addiction and feel the best i have in years. sorry this is so long

Good Morning Roomies ..... And a one .... and a two .... and a ... ahhh, wait a minute ... give me my glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee!

You know what? I found a new line today that we should make our motto! It is:

Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!

What ya think?

Have a GREAT DAY!

Dave,

Great line! It's been my own personal motto for years!

Anyway, today I'm off to a bad start. I forgot to set my alarm last night, so I woke up too late to work out. I'm planning on working out after work, but I'm usually so tired - we'll see.

I'm starting my day with a Diet Snapple Iced Tea and Dannon Cherry Yogurt. Also, I'm having a Cinnimon Chip Muffin (not the fat free kind). We'll see how the rest of the day goes.

Have a great day everyone!

Ok - it's lunchtime. I'm having another diet snapple (no water so far today :eek http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif and a salad with field greens, lettuce, spinich, a little shredded parm cheese and about a tsp of blue cheese dressing. Along with that I'm having a spicy tuna roll (sushi) with wasabi and soy sauce! YUM! I'll probably eat a banana for a snack at around 2pm or so.

Overall, not bad so far. Let's see if I make it to the gym this afternoon.

Stay strong!

My tip for Holiday "weight control"!

I think the big key to the Holidays is summed up in one word ... Moderation!

I too love all the delicious foods of the Holidays! My sister-in-law is a wonderful cook, and I wouldn't miss any of her dishes for the world (let alone hurt her feelings for not eating anything)

What I do for the Holiday dinners we have is pretty simple. I eat a very light breakfast that day. You don't want to go to the dinner table starving to death, and over-eat before your stomach realizes it! (This happens to most of us anyway .. we eat to fast, and we are full before we actually know it) When I fix my plate at this buffet line of a feast she always prepares, I eat some of almost everything she fixes ... only in very small portions! This way, you get all the food ... and have a variety of tastes .... and don't feel like you have cheated yourself out of the traditional Holiday feast! And you can always adjust your diet for the next couple of days to balance out this "splurge" you have allowed yourself to enjoy!

Happy Holidays !!!

Good morning and a big welcome to our newest members Mike1221, BlueEyes, and Gymnut38.

Congrats to all of you for the weight loss and also for keeping it off!

Mike, I think I’ll incorporate one of your steps into my own program. Step #5 (I can’t wait). http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif

If my knee holds up, today I’ll be doing a step & hi-impact class in the evening. I don’t know how I hurt it but it was during my step class on Tues. Strange, I was fine almost the entire hour of workout until the last 5 mins when we began our stretching exercises ???

Well, lost four lbs since sunday
my diets consists of 2200 cal to 2800 cal a day spaced out over 5-6 meals I also log everything I eat to make sure I am getting enough protein so muscles don't start to breakdown. I cannot stress enough how important weightlifting is when you are trying to lose body fat. This sunday I will take my Body fat % I hope it goes down. Oh by the way for all of you who have a hard time not eating sweets try being the owner of a full-line vending company my warehouse is full of every chocolate you can think of along with chips, ice cream and vending food. So if I can resist anyone can. Have a good day.

For all the members of our little club if you guys would like I can breakdown your daily diets and let you know exactly how much protein, carbs, sugars, fats, vitamins etc.. you are consuming I bought a computer program for this. All I need is what you ate now I need to know WHAT YOU ATE this means turkey sand how much turkey? what type of bread? any Dresings etc.. Here is my email: threeriversmjd@hotmail.com Now I cant do this eveyday for you but a couple times week is possible this will give an idea of what you are eating.

Mike1221,

You got me there. I'd be as big as the warehouse!!! Although, I do have to say that my very first job was working for Carvel Ice Cream. I used to love the stuff - now, I can't even walk into the place because of the way it smells. That certain smell was with me all the time - it was stuck in my hair and clothes all the time! YUCK!

I've decided that I'm going to concentrate on a weight program along with my running program. Don't know why this is a revelation to me only today - should've started long ago. Oh well.

I worked out this morning -- step class and lite weights. My workouts are starting to get easier (or I'm getting stronger). Haven't lost any weight yet, but my clothes are fitting better. My stamina is also better.

Still keeping to my diet, but over the weekend I did cheat a little. Had some pecan/caramel delights. Just couldn't resist, they were delicious! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hello Everyone! It is great to read about everyone's weight losses! I'm new to this board but unfortunately I am all too familiar with dieting...I currently weigh 218 lbs and I have lost about 20 lbs since trying to diet again. It is hard getting back into the groove in losing weight. I am so happy to have found this support! I have a special congrats to Gymnut for getting below 200--that is my next goal! And, I would like to say congrats to everyone who is trying to lose weight--it sure isn't easy!
Best wishes, everyone, for a great coming week!

I really like this forum. Is there somewhere on these boards that are like a chat system? that would be cool so we could chat.
anyways, i need some support if anyone has anything to offer. I am 23, i am 5'6 or so and I want to lose 8 lbs. I have been eating healthy and dieting, and exercising since I could remember. I am not over weight. I weight about 133 or so but I want to lose my butt, and thighs and I want to weigh around 125 or so. I started taking some pills that suppress my appetite and I love it. I am a nurse in a large hospital and spend 8-12 hours running around on my feet all day so I am pretty active all day long. Anyways, I really like the suppressants because I think that is the only way I can actually lose the 8lbs. or so. Any advice or support would be great! Thanks!

I like this. This is good. I recently joined a women's exercise club called Curves for Women that consists of around 16 stations of resistance training machines, (no weight, just hydraulics like shock absorbers), and you spend exactly 30 seconds on each machine. In between each machine is an aerobics platform, so after your 30 seconds you do light aerobics, like running in place, dancing, ANYTHING for 30 seconds. You do 3 circuits of this and then a cool down stretch and your DONE! A great 30 minute workout! I've been going for about 3 weeks now and have lost 4 lbs and no telling how many inches and I haven't altered my eating habits. I've cut back on my serving sizes and also have been drinking more water. I'm determined to lose at least 75 lbs in a year. I figure if I'm paying for it, (not expensive really, 30.00 a month), I'm more apt to go so my money is not wasted. I love the workout because now I don't have to figure out what I'm going to do, how many reps or whatever, just 30 seconds and move on over to the next one. They have a cd playing that has a recorded voice and every 30 seconds she says, "move over", in a much nicer way though. And she also tells you to check your pulse every 10 minutes. Anyway, thanks for being there; I'll check in every now and then and let you know how I'm doing!

Hello my friends! I bet you thought I got lost or something! Well ..... not exactly, but as you can see, I have a "II" behind my name, and I am a "Newbe" right now .. for a while anyway. It seems that there was a mix up involving me and someone else posting here, and the moderators thought I was a "Professional Trainer" or something, and was advertising here. I have been writing back and forth with her, and she is trying to get me "unblocked" as quickly as she can.

Never-the-less ... I am here for now anyway.

How has everyone been? And I see we have some new visitors to our list of friends here. Let me say ... Welcome ... and post often. We like to hear your success stories .... and your praise for those others that have had success!

Hi all! I'm new to this buddy system and I'm hoping it will help me out. I'm a college student and was determined to keep off all the weight I lost this past summer (15 pounds). Unfortunately, I came back to school and so did the weight. I actually only gained back about 8 pounds but I feel terrible and I want to get back to the gym again, only time is a problem.

My hints for everyone out there...this past summer I did lose 15 pounds just doing tae-bo in my bedroom (the beginner tape) and about 25-30 minutes of walking/running, alternating every day and taking weekends off. I think my weight came back because I had to stop doing that when my vcr broke. I have to buy a new one. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I've always been chubby since I hit puberty, and I've been struggling for years to actually lose weight. This past summer was great, I actually got down to a size 4!! Just for comparison, earlier last year I was a size 11 (junior sizes). When I was 13, I was a 14. It was amazing. Now I'm a size 7 and would do anything to get back down to a 4 or even smaller. I want to be able to get my navel pierced before the summer hits, with nice abs. That's my goal.

Anyway, just sharing my story. I'll keep you guys up to date, thanks for listening!!

Hello all! thank you for the compliment Tamara, and congrats on your weightloss. Any amount of loss is an accomplishment. I am so happy now, because i lost another 3lbs. I have 31 more to go and i will be where i was when i met my husband 15yrs ago. I think it would be nice to have a chatroom where we could all talk to each other. I just found out from my nutritionist that those bars you can buy,you know, the meal replacements, balance,slimfast.....etc, are not too good for you. she told me they are just a sugar high, and a quick fix. That is a bummer.
I am starting a yoga class at the gym on saturday. I heard it is really relaxing, and the teacher told me she can help me breathe a lot better (i have had asthma since birth.)
Well, have a great day,and week everyone!!!!!!!

Hi, can someone tell me how many carbs and or cals would be in that smoothie recipe? thanks for your time in advance.
I was trying the atkins diet, however I have had a headache the whole 3 days so far, if it does not end I am going to try something else.

Yes ... yes ... yes ... I am finally un-blocked, and able to post under my original name! Cane you belive it? I was only blocked for a couple of weeks, but it seems like forever!

It's good to be back ... and it's good to see the new "buddies", along with reading about the success of some of the others.

Keep up the good work, this is the rough time of the year coming up, and we all have to remember that sweets are okay .. just in moderation!

Talk to you soon .......

hello all! the smoothie recipe i said, i know the strawberries have 9g of carbs,48 calories.....the yogurt (banilla) has 18g carbs,100 calories........1%milk has 13g carbs, and 110 calories. i forget the banana content.. hope this helps. I went the gym last night, and started heavy weight training instead of light,as i usually do. My knee is killing. I had surgery in June, and it felt great, almost 100%. My personal trainer told me i have to give up running,or give up weight training,so i think i'll give up running.. I'm hoping it is because i haven't really used my knee that it hurt last nite. I hate setbacks!!!!! Have a good day all, and remember...........even a loss of one pound is an accomplishment!

Gymnut,

Just wanted to say that Yoga DOES help someone with asthma. It's great to do because yoga concentrates on your breathing. Also, you won't believe that it actually works different muscles. There have been times when I woke up sore after a yoga workout. It's really a great form of exercise and relaxation. It did wonders for my asthma too. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi BlueEyes,
Congrats on the weight loss! Don't be too hard on yourself during the holidays. Just enjoy your favorite foods in moderation.

I have a question about my diet program, if anyone can help me. I started my diet & workouts 3 weeks ago. I’m eating healthy, working out every day, and lost 3 lbs in the first week. Then no more weight loss, but I am getting toned. I am sticking to my diet and workouts, no deviation (I swear)! So at what point will I begin to see more actual weight loss? I am about 25 lbs overweight for my height. Here's my typical menu for the day:

Breakfast:
Oat bran with 1/2 cup non-fat milk. No sugar or butter. 1 cup of cranberry/apple juice.

Lunch:
Large salad (variety of veggies). Sometimes will add SMALL amount of either tofu, chicken, or beef. Topped with 2 Tsps of salad dressing (approx 2 grams of fat).

Snack:
1/2 cup dried fruit (apples or cranberries). OR, 1/4 cup pine nuts.

Dinner:
1/2 cup dried fruit, a few slices of cheese.

I take my vitamins & drink lots of water! My daily workouts are varied – step classes, cardio kick-boxing, aerobics, or racquetball. Sometimes light weights are used in the step classes. Most of the weight I need to lose is upper body (stomach, waist, arms, back). I don’t work out on the machines. Thanks

Geesh .... I'm kind of afraid to reply here, because they thought I was a personal trainer or something the last time, and blocked me from posting because it was assumed that I was advertising on here. (Actually, I think they had me and Mike1221 mixed up)

Anyway ... don't get too discouraged when sometimes the weight loss slows down or even stops. Remember, muscle weighs more then fat, so as you gain muscle, and if you gain more then the fat that is lost, you may actually gain weight.

You will again see some changes ... soon. Just don't get discouraged, that is what happens to so many people.

Okay now ... if you don't see me on here again ... they've zapped me again!

Good luck, and keep up the good work! As was said above in another post, the loss of even one pound is a success!

hello all! falcon, mykidsdad is right. muscle does weigh more than fat. when i workout with my trainer, i don't weigh myself for 3 days, because he told me that when you workout muscles, they tend to swell for a few days. it is true, and i would only weigh yourself once a week. it is discouraging to weigh yourself everyday. (i know, i did it myself) i am now only 28lbs away from my goal. yeah! well, i have to wake up kiddies for school. take care all!

Okay, guys, I posted already, but I'm already off track!!!

I need some advice here. I have finals this week and I can't make it out to the gym at all, and I feel so much like a bump on a log. But studying does come first, you know? What do you recommend to get me motivated? I don't want to go outside b/c I always develop a rather nasty sore throat if i run in the cold weather--is there anything I can do at home besides boring crunches?

Hi Everyone! I hope all of you are having a great week! I lost 3 lb this week, moving down from 218 to 215 lb. Finally, I am breaking my addiction to Mello Yellos! They taste icky-sweet when you haven't had them in a while! Tonight I had Mexican food...but it didn't taste as good as I had imagined it would. I guess it is true--nothing tastes as good as being thin feels! I keep looking at my skinny clothes in my closet to keep me motivated...gosh, size 5 seems so far away...can't believe I wore that size only 3 years ago. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
I do have a suggestion for losing weight during the winter...dancing! I know it sounds crazy but that is how I lost weight before. I would put on my favorite songs and dance for about 20 min or so, 2-3x a day. It was fun and if you will belly dance it really tones the abdomen!
Well, I guess I had better go take my suggestion and start dancing--got a Mexican dinner to burn off!

If I'm gonna dance .. I better close my blinds! If the nieghbors see me ... they'll either die laughing, or call the sheriff and report some wierdo in my house!

Congrats on loosing another 3 lbs! You are doing GREAT!

Hey ... maybe I'll just jog in place to the beat of the music! That can't look as silly as my dancing. The only dancing I really like to do is slow dance .... it's so romantic ... and I'm just a romantic kind of guy http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Keep up the good work!

hello again all! Angeline, a great exercise to do at home when you can't make it to the gym is jumpingjacks, jumping rope, pushups, lunges, deep knee bends........ when i do jumpingjacks i do ten four count jumping jacks. they work great,as cardio, and fatburning.
I am at a plateau now, so i am doing strictly cardio for the next couple of weeks. the last time my weight stayed the same, and i did only jumpingjacks,scissors,situps,crunches... .i started losing again. It is good that all of us are trying to stay on track. Everyone keep up the good work.

Thanks for the advice again, guys. Where would I be without this board?? Anyways,I busted out my old Kathy Ireland stair stepper this weekend--nothing spectacular, it's like 6 inch box that you just step up on--and I do that for 5 minutes. Sounds like nothing, but i'm breaking a nasty sweat and breathing heavy...I'm actually sore! I do it when I wake up and before bed. I don't think I've lost anything significant, but I feel like a million bucks. anything to get me moving is worth it these days.
