I was told by my PCP that I should consider not taking the pill anymore (I'm over 35 now and not in danger of getting pregnant)...but she added that I should see my gyn for a pelvic exam prior. She noted that I should be checked out for cyts, etc first.
Why??
I shouldn't/can't just stop taking it?

That's possible reason why when Gyn say something that you shouldn't stop taking them is that maybe because she doesn't want you to get pregnant or maybe one of your family who has the cyst or cancer? Or could be the reason because of your age like me I will be 40 in October. They said the same thing that I should continue taking the pill until I'm 50, ugh! :eek: I have been on the pill for twenty years and I've had it enough so I stopped taking them. I feel a lot better, lot stronger, more energy, got my sex drive back and my emotions are much more stable. ON the pill, I was crazy angry, crying for apparently no reason, and very intense! I can't even ride my two horses five times a week for two weeks because my breasts were very tenderness and painful when I sit on the horse's back, bouncy! :bouncing: OHH, that was hurt! Many other things I can't deal with it anymore. I would never go back in hell where I should not be.

To the orginal poster, I am unsure why your doctor wants you to have a pelvic exam before you go off of the pill -- did you have a history of cysts prior to taking the pill?

No...no history. It was my primary doc who suggested the exam before I stop taking BC. I'd prefer to just stop taking it....
