CINDERELLA 01-02-2001, 01:20 AM thanks Flint 01-02-2001, 08:34 AM Eat healthy, exercise and get lots of sleep, this all helps. Also try to kep things positive in your life, listen to music and watch programs that make you happy. Too much Carpenters and Sad movies make me a whacko,ha. This time of year is very hard and depressing, Holidays no matter how great your life is can really drag you down. There are herbs that will help with depression also. Mich 01-05-2001, 02:07 PM Get yourself a good vitaman B-complex...it has done wonders for me!!! Also, and this is the key....exercise! TrickyDick 01-05-2001, 02:50 PM And don't forget to take your Zinc. Cutebeagle2 01-09-2001, 07:48 PM Record snowfall this year and it's winter now that's depressing. Try a little exercise, any long term goals, and dreams? How about locating that favourite CD you liked from not to long ago and having a few drinks,it'll take your mind of work among things. How about watching a funny movie, candid camera, the honeymooners,Drew Carey,Monty Python,i'm sure you can think of a few more and always good for a few laughs CC 01-11-2001, 06:25 PM You also need to get a positive support system - may it be family or friends. A lot of time depression can be cured with stress relievers - like meditation, messages, relaxation methods like reading or time-out, also excercise. I personally meditate 15 minutes a day and it helps me stay focused and allows me to steady my energy better = less stress = less depression. Medatation is cheap and easy to do - just pick a word or phrase that you find comforting. Go to a quiet place - sit down on a soft blanket and breath in slowly and deeply, repeating the word or phrase in your mind as you exhale. Also close your eyes so your not distracted by anything. This should help. nadia snow 04-08-2005, 10:34 PM i would definately agree with the suggestions above along with vitamin b, there are also "herbal remedies" that may combat depression. the most well-known would be "st. john's wort" supplements. other suggestions to consider: *get involved in spirtuality or religious groups or read about spirtuality (find a purpose or meaning to life) *express loving kindness & avoid blaming others, or other harm directed towards others. build meaningful and healthy relationship with friends & family. *daily physical exercise (at least going out for walks daily if not "vigorous exercise") *healthy eating habits (*lots of "whole foods" including fresh veggies and fruits, whole grains) *productivity veggie girl 04-09-2005, 05:35 AM How about watching a funny movie, candid camera, the honeymooners,Drew Carey,Monty Python, Or Eddie Izzard. His comedy is the best prozac. |
