For about a year I have noticed bright red blood ( v small amount ) on outside of stool , usually at end. Occurred perhaps 1 a month or every 6 week or so. Several month ago tests showed up no blood in stools but have returned for more test an GP sending me to consultant for further test. I am extremely anxious, not sleeping etc , great fear that this could be something v serious. No pain, but would frequently have diarrhea, I do lots of jogging, eat a lot of fruit and 3-4 lites of water per day so this may cause diarrhea. Recently changed diet , less fruit etc and now BM seem normal and 1 or 2 per day. No blood seen for 4 weeks

It sounds like Hemmoroids, probably internal if your doctor didnt see them without a scope, could also be a fissure a hairline crack so to speak in your anus. I say this because you seem to have very little other symptoms, the blood is on the outside of the stool, presumably red, and at the end of the stool. A scope will tell you. Either a too hard stool, or even too soft stools can irritate them. You may want to try lubricating the rectum before a bm, and wiping with a "wet one" instead of dry paper for a while. If you are a fanatic about running, maybe you need to do that easier and less frequently for awhile.
