I drink alot of Soy milk with my protein shakes. I've heard that soy promotes estrogen, does anyone know if this is really true? Thanks.

Phil Filipek 01-22-2001, 08:53 PM I drink alot of Soy milk with my protein shakes. I've heard that soy promotes estrogen, does anyone know if this is really true? Thanks. PHIL arkie6 01-24-2001, 11:07 AM Yes, soy contains a type of estrogen called phytoestrogen. It can cause everything from fertility problems to improper sexual development in children fed soy formula. Here is a link that contains numerous articles on soy (most if not all are not good either): http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/ Also checkout the other links at the bottom of that page. Here is a link discussing this http://thyroid.about.com/health/thyroid/library/weekly/aa083099.htm Danzjeepn 01-25-2001, 05:32 PM Avoid soy. Stick with quality whey and milk (casein) proteins. |
