I started dieting on January 1st as my new year resolution. I've lost 20lbs so far, but I didn't lose anything in the last 2 weeks. I'm doing everything I can to lose weight. I exersize about 2 hours a day. I run about 2 miles everyother day incorporate aerobics and weight training and I never consume more than 700 calories a day and I eat very healthy foods. I really want to lose atleast 10 more pounds. I have a very special day coming up next month and I want to look great. Please help. Any advice would be appriciated.

Twenty pounds in six weeks is quite a bit. Maybe your body needs time to adjust before losing more.

I agree with auntjudyg. I have recently lost 40 lbs and have come to a stand still on my weight also. I've always heard the last of the weight is the hardest to get off. I read somewhere that you will come to a stand still cause your body has to adjust to the weight loss. So just keep doing what you're doing and it will eventually come off. Good luck!

You may want to up your calories a bit. It might sound funny, but your body may think you are starving yourself and it is slowing your metabolism down to use nutrients more efficiently.

After losing a lot of weight, there comes a point after one or two months, that you stop decreasing in weight, but you definately see changed with ur sizes....so dont worry and do the same thing you were doing before. I know it gets discouraging, but it happened to me after the first 20lbs I lost but then I lost another 15 after 2-3 weeks...and 700 calories and less, isnt that too little??? I thought I was bad.

Most people do reach a plateau when dieting. It is very important that you measure yourself along with weighing yourself. Don't get discouraged because your body is probably just turning fat into muscle. Since muscle weighs more than fat, it might not seem like you're losing weight but you'll still be losing inches. Hang in there, you'll see the results if you just keep doing what you're doing.

The reason you are not losing is your calories are about 1/2 of what they should idealy be for weight loss. I am quite amazed at the amount of people who do such low calorie diets and say they are surprised when stop losing! I thought they knew they would if they ate such little calories. Its just a fact. Your body CANNOT survive on that many calories. It needs more than that just to siy around.A 180 lb woman burns about 1643 cals a day just breathing!! My advice...up your calories and even if you start to gain you will start to lose soon if you eat healthy just with at least 1200 cals a day.Your body needs to readjust. That is probably the only thing you can do.Cutting them more will make you really sick. Can anyone live on 700 cals a day for life? Not likely and thats what you'd have to do to keep it off at this rate. Or else you would keep having to reduce and reduce because your body thinks it is starving so it hoards every last calorie.
