I have a question......exactly how long does it take for the pill to fully absorb? I was wondering because I had a little too much to drink ;) and I threw up early Friday morning (around 3 am). I take my pills the same time that I always do at exactly 7 pm. Is it still fully effective?

i believe it says to use a back up method if your throw up within 3 hours of taking the pill...HOWEVER, i suggest you use backup anyway.. better be safe then sorry.

I agree, I would backup incase.. and check the little booklet/instructions that come with your pill, it may be different for each kind?

You don't need back-up. Your pill was fully absorbed by the time you were sick to your stomach.

You need back-up when:

-you miss more then one pill in a row
-you start a pack of pills late (or any time you go more then seven days without a pill during your placebo week)
-you throw up within two-three hours of swallowing your pill
-you have severe diarrhea lasting more then 24 hours
-you are taking any substances that interfere with the pill
-you have just started taking the pill

In all of the above instances, back up is needed until you have used the pill perfectly for seven consecutive days.

In your case, back-up is not needed. :)
